Pitch Shifted Vocals
What kind of shifters are best, and how would i go about setting everything up as far as the mic, PA, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

my pa's head comes with alot of effects and a few pitch change options. but the "distortion" has a phaser on it for some reason and it sounds wierd when turned up. the pitch shifting is limited to only so many pitches, 3 namely and they have delay on them. behringer effects suck. and as far as digitech goes i wouldnt trust it live.

Which Behringer PA head do you have? I have an old behringer mixer with effects that has just the pitchshift on them. Maybe the effects you're finding are combo effects, and there are seperate ones elsewhere. It wouldn't make sense for the pitch shifter to always have a delay or phaser or whatever on it. I guess it might just be Behringer living up to their namesake...

yeah, there's no way to remove the delay/echo on the pitch shifter effect.
it's retarded.

Do you need a board? Can you just run the mic through the shifter and to the PA? (This might be an obvious question, but I'm really inexperienced with any kind of gear.)

You don't need a pitch shifter. You CAN hit the low notes AND the high notes. I show people how to gain octaves all the time
