Can you run two heads through 1 cabinet?

Hey I am looking at getting another head to put in my set up. Is it possible to run both heads at once through one cabinet?

Awsome could you explain how I could do this?
Here the list of my set up

Framus Cobra Head
Marshall 4x12 cabinet
Pro Co Rat Distortion Pedal

The next head i'll place with it will be the Marshall JCM 900 with a Big Muff Fuzz pedal

Your marshall 4x12 should have a switch for mono/stereo use. Make sure it's on stereo. Set each head for the proper impendance(in the case it should be 8 ohms) and plug one head(Cobra) into the left jack on the cab and the other head(JCM 900) into the right input jack on the cab. Each head will push two speakers.

Awsome thanks. I knew it was possible I have no clue why people were saying I needed another cab.

Also I might change that JCM 900 to a Fender FM100 head I see on ebay.

Not a fan of the Fender. Just another "Metalzone through a high wattage s.s. power section" type tone.

The JCM 900's(especially the SL-X) and 2000's are awesome for metal. Better than the muddy ass Cobra IMO. it'd be a good tonal mix.

Well for what I am going for the Cobra is almost too clean IMO. So that's why I run the Rat through it. I just want another head with a fuzz pedal to add even more overkill. The tone I want is pretty buzzsawish not clear.

buzzsaw? get the jcm 900, and try to find an old ass Boss HM-2. A noisegate in the loop of the 900 is ESSENTIAL for this to work nicely.

Guitar --> hm2 (dime volume, eq whatever, play wtih gain knob for the sort of attack you want) --> slightly distorted jcm 900 (with gate in lewp). It will get the raunchiest grind ever.
My trick for reducing noise was to turn down my tone knob because it only reduced noise, didnt change the tone AT ALL, but if you're running 2 amps, you'll want the tone knob up. But the gate should take care of it.

I have a few clips of my hm-2 in action if you want a sample.

I use a rocktron hush pedal for noise.

Yeah I was thinking about the old HM2. I'm still contemplating with the 900 tho. I might want to look into a solid state to give a bit more variety in the mix. Since the Cobra is really warm tube sounding I would want a head with a bit more gritty ness and perhaps a bit more of a sharp solid state attack.

But yeah deffinatly post those samples.

I got a tube/SS duel head setup that share a cab and I like it a lot. The only draw back is when I mic the cab. Two mics are needed to get the full tone mix.

okay. setup is as follows

eastwood GP (with tone knob at 0 which reduces noise) --> hm2 (dont remmeber settings) --> marshall 30th anniversary on crunch channel at jcm 900 setting (dont remmeber EQ)

oh, and the eq is different in each clip.

Wow some nice sounds there. I might try and look into that pedal. But how do you think it will sound with the Rat pedal going?

put em after the a/b/y box so it runs like...

guitar --> y box
--> rat --> framus
--> hm2 --> 900

should work lovely.

Awsome. So do I need my Hush pedal at all?

Also is their any risk of blowing anything?

hush pedal in loop of 900 unless you want the raunchiest feedback ever. (beginning and end of hm2.mp3 is the feedback im talking about)

and nothing will blow

I've been thinking of doing this too so I will throw in another loop... What if I want to use a Wireless system? Would I plug in the a/b/y switch into the Wireless system then run it from the A/b/y to the heads?

treat a wireless system like its a cable coming from your guitar.
