Linear Sphere - Scent of Carbonite

http://www.linearsphere.com/downloads.php

...the result of a challenge set by progressive metal monsters Dream Theater. In late 2003, the band posted a chart of an (as then) unreleased song. The brief was to create a composition based on instructions such as Evil Chords or Beatles Section. Tempo markers and time signature changes were provided, but everything else had to be written from scratch. Composed by and featuring Charlie Griffiths and Steve Wallis (keyboards) this track encapsulates two weeks of frantic composition and recording. It was a very rewarding experience for us and it was nice to be acknowledged by Dream Theater, who kindly included our track on a compilation CD along with six other progressive artists from around the world.

I wanted to know if they're any bands dedicated to making pieces similar to that. Cause right now it's my favorite instrumental.

I'd rather have Linear Sphere doing nothing but things like this, I don't care for their vocals, and the only songs by them I listen to on a regular basis is "Reveral", and "from space to time".
