Vocal Feedback Requested.

Technique is vocal fry. If you want to know more about it I can post an audio guide.
Recorded into a headset mic
No backing music, so don't expect to be rocking out to it. I'm looking for feedback on technique
Influences are mostly from metalcore. At some point I will look to learn some growl techniques but so far I'm just working on vocal fry.

Here it is:

terrible, you're using your throat.

no diaphragm even in there at all.

in fact I feel like puking now.

I seriously doubt my vocals gave you the feeling of puking (maybe it's what you ate 8 hours ago who knows).

I'll try what you posted in an earlier post : "you're going to find it by starting a low sss noise and gradually getting the sss louder."

However, could you post a link to something you've done that demonstrates using the diaphragm?

edit: found some stuff you posted:
1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avGrmHtUkeQ
2. http://www.zshare.net/download/17982275c14416/
3. http://www.flixn.com/play/kcg506/

3 is quite good, but I don't think you're ever using vocal fry.
1 sounds to me like you're using a lot of throat for your high stuff.
2 is a growl, and I'm not working on those yet.

I only use my throat to increase the pitch, as the pitch goes up you notice more throat sound.

however I use my diaphragm to actually bring the air to a scream rather then just talking and pinching your throat.

all of those are actually very old too, i've increased my pitch and tone to a better quality since then.

the err... growl, was when I first learned how to growl. I can do at least 4 or so different growl types now (mimiced after vocallists).

but yeah, I'm not saying that you personally suck or you are'nt going to get anywhere with what you're doing, but listen to bands, none of them use the tecnique that you're using, A because it does'nt sound very good, and B because it damages the throat.

once you can master the diaphragm, just tweak with air/throat/tongue placement to find different tones and abilities.

edit: And I just realised how old those videos must be, considering my hair was at my ears in those videos, and I just recently got my hair cut because it was past my shoulders.

Well I did some practicing today and the diaphragm stuff helped (it's sometimes easy to forget)...

And thank you for your concern about my throat, although I'm reasonably certain I'm not doing any damage (I plan asking my doctor if I can see an ENT just to make sure).

Below is a clip of Philip Labonte (All That Remains). Can you for sure verify what style he is using?:

To the best of my knowledge he is using vocal fry.

edit: I couldn't get the video to sync with the audio so I didn't include it, but you can see that he using the shape of his mouth to dictate pitch, not his throat.

If you want to know what I mean by vocal fry this article on voice registers has a great section on it:

that's just tight throat, forced air, and microphone gain, personally, it sounds like crap because he's using too much throat.

I personally use alot of throat when I go for highs because I like to have a more evil sounding high rather then a screech.

however when I attempt screamo (real screamo, not radio bullshit) (and always out of fun, because screamo kids are fags) I scream with my throat completely open, barely tense, and I let out alot of falsetto overtones, highly unwanted, but whatever.
