How to play this piece...
Right,
This track (a russian band, Autumn), starting around 00.54 upto about 01.20. It's in 3/4, and from what I can hear, there is a marching-style beat on the snare, with the hats playing slower... how is this played, as I can't work it out?

That beat is:

Still following the same RLLRLLRLLRLL pattern on the hands.

Here you go
Nothing special, just showing how the beat is played. The second beat I play is a different variation of the same concept, but the first and last beats are the one from the song. Hope it helps. Remember! Use your right hand for the hi-hat and also for the one snare hit. When you're playing the ghost notes on the snare with your left hand, try to think of it as your left hand is playing a different drum.
Don't mind my sloppy playing, my basement flooded a few weeks ago so I had to take my drums out and I havent been able to play much. I just have a few of my drums up in my room and i've been having a blast with them.
I was also having lots of fun making up different beats using the same "double hit" with my left hand, maybe I'll work on them and get another video up!

If you watch the video again, at the :23 second mark, i'm playing the hand motion on the snare. Practice doing that. Do it at a comfortable tempo and when you good with it, try adding some hi-hat in.
