Grotesque Impalement scale
since there is no tab for the solo to Grotesque Impalement by Dying Fetus i want to 'make up' my own. if i take any scale and put it so that the root note is C# will i be able to get a sound close to the song or what should i do as far as the scale goes to try and make my own?
i was going to post a video but for some reason none of the live ones on youtube have the solo. i'm pretty sure there was one a while back that had the solo but it's not there now

i'm gonna attempt to. i'm under the impression all solos were based on scales so i was hoping someone could suggest a scale or something so that i could make the attempt or can any random scale i pick work?

here's what you do.
play it so you hear one note. write that note down.
repeat until you've got the entire solo.
some notes are harder to figure out.
just make sure you've got your guitar to test it out to chekc out similarities

iunno man, scale would be a pretty decent idea to get started. Just kinda shred on that one scale in a similar pattern to the song, then tweek it. Totally faster. Sadly though i dont know which scale, i'm guessing some diminished or augmented C# root.

the only problem is i can't always identify a note by hearing it. but might as well try it anyway

It's never too late to start your ear training.

Yeah, I did a couple of Meshuggah solos like that. I did a few sections from I like that too.
Using scales might help, listen for any particularly scale-y bits. I suppose it's helps though if you know the scales kinda to ear as well.

try to use BestPractice. It can slow down the song at the same pitch so you can tab the solo note by note.
You can also remove the vocal in the song. Try with Master Of Puppets
hope it helps
