lube

I heard it's a good I dea to lube up the nut and the bridge on guitars. So what are the areas I should actually lube up? I have a bottle of Tuning slide/cork grease (my brother used to play baritone horn). Could I use that?

Yes, lubing the nut and bridge will creative a more stable tuning, and give less chances of string breakage. I use "Big Bends Nut Sauce," and I like it because it's nice and thick, rather than runny, which can create messes.

as i've said before. rub graphite into your nut. (and bridge if you feel like it) Bridge doesnt matter as much because the string doesnt move as much down there as it doesn over your nut. The only time i'd really consider lubing the bridge is if it had some sort of whammy bar, and theres a posibility of motion down there. As for WHERE exactly to rub the graphite, basically anywhere the string touches metal.

You mentioned putting graphite on the nut in the thread I created about locking tuners. where exactly would you get graphite??

any art store. Michaels, Mj Designs, you name it. It will be in the sketching section, most likely next to the charcoal.
