I remember an old trick - one of the very first things I learnt when beginning some 10 years or more ago - that allowed you to work out the key of any song: the key is usually given by the first, or last, chord of the song.
I'm not sure how this transposes to more complicated songs (and I don't consider Hammer Smashed Face to be complicated at all) but I'm guessing the principle remains the same.

Yes it may, but that doesn't mean the key of the song changes.

It's probably based around the Locrian of the lowest note, the very first interval is a b5, so it's possibly in E.

the first riff is D#,A(Because guitar are downtuned of one semitone).Is it locrian?

A is the b5th of D# so yes that would based around the Locrian

It coul also be based around the Lydian, but then the A would be the aug' 4th of D#, but no, the rest doesn't really have the characteristic brightness.
Yeah, so the key would be E if it was D# Locrian.

Actually, while we're at it... any ideas on how to try and match the bass tone in this? Obviously boost the highs somewhat, but I'm terrible with EQs... some tips?

One of the first things I was taught was well. But the key word here is Usually.
