Some More RR3 crap
Well, I've searched for everything I could about RR3's. I recently got a job because I want a guitar that show's that I'm a serious player (without being like a custom-model wielding guitar god) Anyways. I've read all the negative stuff about it and that was only over the duncan-designed pickups.(which have been revised to an JB and Jazz set) and some people disliked the Jackson neck style, but I love it. SO is there anything really bad about the RR3? I've heard the tremolo can be bad, but I have a super cheap Ibanez with a Floyd-liscensed bridge, and it works fine. PLUS if any of you have one: Is there binding on the neck/headstock? I've seen it listed on the specs, but not in the pics.

The specs are wrong sometimes, which pisses me off. There's no binding on the neck or the headstock. To be honest, the only problems I've had with an RR3 is that it's a bolt-on neck and it's only 22 frets. Other than that, it's an incredible guitar for the price. I'd so go for it.

Why is the bolt-on and 22 fret a "problem?" Do not say, "Because neck-thru and 24 frets are better."

Sometimes players just like that. There's nothing wrong with bridge tremelos, although I hate them. I would'nt like to own a 22 fret guitar just because I want those two extra frets.
I think I'm preferring bolt-ons now to other ways of connecting the neck to the body. It sounds punchier to me.

Yeah man, I'm totally gonna get this, I don't mind bolt-ons. Plus I like my 22 fret guitars, because I use my neck pickup A LOT. And they seem to sound better on 22 fretters. I just got a shit job at Sonic. So hopefully I can save up enough!

Bolt-on kills sustain. The neck joint doesn't feel so comfy. I like reaching the 24th fret and then bending. Why does it matter? It's just my opinion...

well, shit when it's a V it's easy to reach the high frets, regardless of heel-type.

I didn't say it was hard, I just meant it was comfy.

It does not "kill," of course a low-quality bolt-on will be rather poorer in sustain. Get a high-quality one and there'd be no complaints.

RR3 are Japanese, so yeah, pretty good build quality.

Agreed. There are so many factors that contribute to sustain that saying that a bolt on neck will kill it is rediculous. Unless of course its held in loosely with one screw...

Why not get a Warrior series model from Jackson? It has 24 frets and probably is just as good as the RR series.

I like the Rhoads shape, and I like the neck pickup position on 22 frets. I don't need 24 frets. most of my guitars I already own have 24. I don't use them in my solo's. And I never do solos on cover songs.
