I wish they would at least with whatever comes after the 360 make the xbox into a game system where you can have a mouse and keyboard.
I wish i could play PC games but getting a new computer good enough to run shit how it should be is extremely tiresome.

I know exactly how you feel. My PC is only like 2 years old, and I still can't play some of the newer games And upgrading is a bitch.

Its WAY too costly. There is no reason that people should be able to pay like 300 or so bucks for a system and be able to play the latest greatest games with no hassle, when pc players can't have the same.
I know there is alot of "political" bullcrap with microsoft with giving the 360 keyboard and mouse support, but this is something that needs to happen i think.
There would be so many pc players switching if given this ability. The ability to have almost limitless button ability and the ability to have a much easier selection tool (mouse) so many games could be on any given system.

I'd definitely consider switching.

No. Infact the more i think about it the more its going down on my list.
In continuation to my rant in the other thread. Where is the comedy? in 16 hours of mainly mission gameplay there has been almost no humor. The character brucie is funny and thats it. There are NO comical missions. San Andreas was loaded with it.
There is simply just no fucking comedy at all int his game. Its way too serious. Too "realistic" yet at the sametime cops don't pull you over for breaking traffic laws? Only GTA game i know of to have this nonesense. There is no incentive to drive well in this game.
Also there is no property. Wow, only every single GTA game except this one had the ability to actually own property. (if somehow later in the game this option comes available, it completely seems unseen to me) I'm 16 hours into the game and its probably 3rd on my list of GTA games.
San Andreas
Vice City
GTA 4.
Where the fuck are all the cool fake things about GTA games that were good? Killing spree coins? Being able to run people over in INTERESTING vehicles? Combine harvesters and what not. Give me a fucking street sweeper dear fucking god.
More to come when i think about it and get angry enough to rant about it.

hmm, well I guess they wanted to try something different and make it more realistic. Anyone else have opinions on this they'd like to share?

i actually prefer it this way, san andreas was just to cheesy.

how do you work that out? it's a lot harder to drive, therefore i would have thought when you've driven well it would make you feel better about yourself. and i've found 6 star police chases to be seriously quickly ended by my bad driving so that's my incentive. + it looks fucking awesome weaving between traffic.
i love this game though, the city is SO detailed and there's always something to do. drunk driving rocks. drunk driving to the other island while its locked down and getting 6 stars is even better.

GTA games are supposed to be cheesish. This game feels like a knock off polished shitty version of maxpayne or something.
You missed my point of driving completely. Its about just as hard to drive in this game as any of the other ones. The difference is you only have to drive "well" when you are being chased or chasing someone. You can even kinda hit cop cars while driving with no stars and STILL not get any stars.
So what that its detailed? There is no reason to explore any of the city i feel. There is nothing hidden and nothing gained from looking around it feels like. There is almost no game play in this game. They literally took more away from the game series than added.
All they did was polish the game over and add tiny things like people dropping their groceries cause i stole a car in front of them. Does that add gameplay? No. Does making a game that used to be about going absolutely nuts and doing almost anything you want, into a game with such LINEAR gameplay a good thing for the sake of graphics?
Thats what i think they did. Big time.
Always something to do? Like what? get ring tones for a cell phone or browse the internet on the game? I find there is almost nothing to do in this game except the missions and some side stuff here and there. This game is hella weak once you peal off the prettiness. All this detail they've added does nothing to the game except add eye candy which doesn't make any game. This game is riding off way.... WAY too much hype. It actually makes me kind of angry that yet another game it being turned more and more into a first person shooter with amazing graphics. Both of those 2 things are ruining games today.
Oh yeah, no apache helicopter, (no military vehicles of any sort in this game)
There is nothing original in this game at all. Nothing. Unless this game changes significantly in the next like 10 hours i'd say this is a good gamefly rent rather than a buy.

i guess we just go for different things in games mate. i found san andreas a huge wasteland of nothing to do and got bored pretty quickly. this city just feels packed full of stuff to find and do, i know you don't see it that way, but there's alot of stuff to collect and lots of alley ways to smash down. there's a huge amount of cars, which is cool cos some look pretty similar but behave so differently. police chases are ridiculously fun, so many of mine end up with me backed into a corned behind the wreckage of my car trying to survive as the cops surround me, now thats what i call fun. everything just looks wicked, i took out a police helicopter pilot with a sniper last night and the thing fell straight down on some heavy traffic causing the most awesome explosion i've seen in a game.

to me it still feels like a GTA game through and through. it feels a bit clunky in the running and shooting area, but once you get the hang of it it's ok.

every cop car i hit comes after me, it is easy to escape one star, but then when in a GTA game wasn't it.

there are the hidden packages in the form of pigeons you have to shoot (took me a while to work that out :P). there are the cars to collect. there seems to be shit loads to find. also i just enjoy just generally exploring the city, ok not for everyone, but for me its more fun than cruising around the endless wastes of san andreas.

i wouldn't say it's linear, ok the story missions lead you along by the hand, but they're fucking good fun, and well written and voice acted. all the side stuff to do is great fun as well.

cause crazy chases through the city, go play darts, pool, bowling, drink driving, taxi rides, helicopter rides, dates, throwing bricks at people and through windows, beating up hobos, seeing how far you can get onto the islands that are locked, seeing how long you can last with a 6 star wanted level, blowing up cars, boats, helicopters, bikes. taking a chopper to the top of the empire state building, knocking off the tail and then trying to land the chopper without dying, seeing how many cars you can blow up with the helicopter, slicing people up with it's blades too. man, i can think of 1001 things to do in this game that, yes, you could do before, but now are so much more satisfying and look just damn cool. it may be eye candy, but i'd rather crash my chopper and only just walk away from a wreckage that looked like something from a bond movie than fly into a tree that popped up infront of me from 10 yards and instantly explode.

= every game I've played for 360 so far. Same games with better graphics (and in your opinion worse games) doesn't fucking justify 500 bucks worth of shit for a 360.
What you said in your last two posts depresses me... about the no apache (and no fighter jet I'm guessing), no military vehicles, NO BUYING PROPERTY WTF??, ... I've only played the game for a few hours, but by the way it sounds I'm in for some disappointment
Come to think of it, it did seem like a Scarface/Max Payne rip off shit clone type game. Not to mention the fact that if I started playing the game without knowing it was part of a GTA series, I wouldn't have known any better. It seriously doesn't even seem like a Grand Theft Auto.

I mean its a pretty good game. But overall its like what were they thinking? Did they change the ENTIRE staff of rockstar then pay off IGN to give a 10 rating?
I think if the name GTA was removed and the graphics were slightly reduced (to whatever the standard is nowadays) the rating of this game would be drastically reduced.
I mean i'm not saying this game sucks by any means, but fullfilling the shoes of a THE sandbox game of ALL games, it falls short by quite a ways. They went backwards in terms of gameplay for graphics and physics. There is no attesting this. Less vehicles, less things to do, less ownership of the game (properties and houses), you can no longer customize your character outside of clothing and its not even that much clothing to pick from, and no military (which as been there since GTA 1...). There are epic loads more of things like this (on smaller scales) but these are the big ones that jump out and make me really question this game.
Oh yeah and its got multiplayer. Because EVERYBODY has to have multiplayer. This is another thing that is pissing me the fuck off about games lately. Its graphics, first person gameplay, and all about multiplayer. I mean i do enjoy multiplayer, but they added this and took away all the single player away.
As anybody else noticing this going on? There are more to video games than graphics, and seeing things through the characters eyes, or playing deathmatch online because it covers up the game has no depth at all. And when they put a story to it, its literally the same rehashed bullshit over and.. over ... and over.. again.

that's something i've wanted in a GTA game for a long time, cruising around the entire city as a gang with 3 (or more) of your mates looking for trouble is great fun.
but your right that a lot of games are being focused on for multiplayer then have shitty single player. i don't think GTA falls in that category though.

I'm not trying to convince you. If you believe its a great game thats cool. I personally disagree. Maybe they're going for a more mature polished look? I dunno. Apparently they really blew over all the video game raters. I don't know whether they got through the game far enough to see all this stuff or not, or maybe they don't care? I dunno i had a personal relationship with the other games that i just can't connect with on this one. It makes me kinda sad.
I agree about having multiplayer across a city. That is pretty cool. San Andreas multiplayer was extremely extremely poor. It kinda worked ok but it wasn't very satisfying.
I just feel like i'm being smothered with control with this game. All this pretty and not much to do. Maybe i need to spend more time on foot or something. On san andreas i spent nearly 50% of my time on a bicycle. That was a good way to get around and see detailed areas and explore around corners without having to slowly walk around. (which is aggrivating all on its own)

san an's multiplayer was hilarious, it was so bad i think i only tried it once. but it was on the right track i guess.
earlier on i picked up my mate in a chopper flew to the top of the empire state building, knocked the tail off of the chopper and bailed out onto the roof where i could get down through a door, but before making my way to the street the safe way, watched him in the back seat of the chopper begin to fall and smash into the side of the building on the way down. was absolutely hilarious.
i loved the quad bikes in san andreas, cruising around the woodland areas on those was wicked.

Sure you could, if you're any good at scripting I'm pretty sure you can find some decent free servers as well

We used to do all sorts of shit involving helicopters and high buildings in multiplayer. haha Shit like drop a person drops out the helicopter then the helicopter would get dragged down (the distance boundry). haha Awesome shit.
I haven't checked out the SA multiplayer yet. I was just saying what i said to make it clear that i'm just trying to state my opinions without getting too personal on yours. Apparently my opinions come off way too strong to people. (fuck them)
I state the facts, show the logic, then give my assessment, interpretations, and my opinion. Thats how it works in my job, and it makes a hell of alot of sense in bringing up an argument.
For having a game with so much detail and paying attention to every nuance (which is seems they more or less did) they wouldn't forget the fact that if you speed on the road the cops should be after you, or if you drive on the wrong side of the road, or side walks, the police should come after you.
If i remember correctly every GTA game has forced you to have realistic driving standards under regular conditions. Sure once the stars are on all bets are off and you gotta do what you gotta do. But how can this realistic game allow you to drive on the wrong side of the road all day long? (oh and trust me you can scrape police cars and not get arrested for it)
The physics does feel pretty legit. I've been thrown out of the front windshield of my car numerous times.
HOLY FUCKING CHRIST> i just saw that last pic you added. there was fucking 90 out of 100 slots taken up on the first one! 90 fucking people were playing cops and robbers!!!! i love pc.. i swear.

I've been quite tempted to do this for a while- i haven't got a windows machine to play the game on (got a linux box that could be the server though), i might see if we've got a correctly specced laptop that would be suitable.... damn them for not releasing a Mac version of the game! I think i'm going to have to crack out my ps2 copy of SA, haven't played it in a very long time.

The game is overall a lot of fun, but it doesn't live up to San Andreas for many reasons, most of which TM said. The Radio stations are also all pretty annoying.. Which one do you find yourself turning to the most, or many just completely turning it off?
Though, i do love the idea of being able to hitch a ride in a cab and being able to skip of over the drive (though it costs ya a few extra bucks, fuck it) it really boosts the pace of the game

Yeah that is a good feature.
I listen to JNR the most. (obviously). I listen to the hardcore one now and again. Alot of really good bands come on there that i used to listen to back in the day.
And any of the talk radio ones. I like the one with the eagle on it. That one is hilarious as shit. The black radio judge.
Although overall it didn't seem like the radios were up to par with san andreas but i'd have to go back and listen to them to compare both.
But i think having like a "present time" game kinda of sets up the radio to be not so good. With the themed/era games they picked the best or better songs from those eras and it was enjoyable and fit in well. I think its harder to do for a present day game.

True, but a classic rock station would have been nice. The Black radio judge kills me, he's absolutely hilarious.
Has anyone found any advantage to the ability to watch TV so far? it just seems like a pointless unnecessary feature. I was also surprised on how in depth the whole 'internet' is when you go to the internet cafe. though it doesn't seem like much of it is functional (at least not yet, I'm pretty early into the game).
i do miss the ability to get my guy jacked and look like a fuckin badass in SA. Right now the only clothes store available is that stupid ass Russian one and the selection is horrible.
About how long into it before i can access the other islands?

Yeah i was able to catch some of the Kat Williams standup. That guy is fucking hilarious as shit.
They have more choices of clothes further int he game. But its not like you can dress him HOWEVER YOU PLEASE. Not to mention i did like having the ability to have a fat character, or a super built character.
