As I Lay Dying plays thrash now?
I guess its true, at least some mix of hardcore/thrash. All the scene kids are crying. Listen to the song, look at the comments. Funny stuff!

I'm on dial-up so I only caught the first bit of it...not bad minus the vocalist. I think a lot of bands are starting to go back to their old-school roots, we're just not hearing it since the world of mainstream music is so narrow-minded and profit-oriented. Look at Avenged Sevenfold, there's some real talent in that band, just that I'd rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than that fag singer of theirs. Overall though, I definitely think virtuous instrumentation is coming back into style, at least as far as guitar playing. Just look at how many guitar solos you hear today in alternative/hard rock/hardcore compared to just a few years ago (not that the solos are typically anything special, but at least they are there). I think we are pretty close to another guitar explosion.

If they end up soloing a lot on the rest of the album, that will make me really happy, even if they suck. I don't mind the vocals personally, even though they could be way better... overall this is pretty interesting considering its As I Lay Dying. So many angry kids, haha.

Haha, I have never heard the word "thrashy" used so many times. Good for them I guess, god knows everything else they've done up until now has blown.

I hate to be cynical about this, but I'd personally put this down to Trivium turning into a thrash band all of a sudden as well. Think about it, both started off as metalcore bands, then started churning out this kind of stuff. Although that AILD song was much better than Trivial.

maybe a lot of these bands are finally realizing that the whole "metalcore" scene is finally dying...the instruments do actually sound better.

Listened to the song. It sounds like thrash. Exactly. Like. Thrash. Thrash by numbers. It really doesn't impress me. Anybody can rip off great bands from the 80's, adding nothing but shitty vocals.

Well I said that at the time cause I had a number of friends crying to me simultaneously because of how much they adore this band and hate the song and it was pretty funny. Any negative comments from kids towards such a big metalcore band is pretty significant... you know theres more than just 4 people who hate it. A lot of fans are going to abandon them, just like when job for a cowboy went to playing generic death metal. They'll try to like it, but won't.

I somehow doubt their fans will start abandoning them. For one, from the blog it sounds like they aren't completely changing up their style. They still will have the same old hardcore songs with a thrashier song here and there. For two, emo kids are like sheep man, they don't know what they want to hear, they need to be told. So hopefully more bands start writing some real music and the fans just naturally follow them, and who knows, we just might see the end of this bullshit emo/hardcore/mallcore movement before long.

I actually kinda digged it until it got to a minute and thirty secondsish into it cuz it went into that interlude for like two fuckin minutes, it would be better if it was just thrash straight through, and I really doubt that all of the new songs are gonna be like this.

Sounds like As I Lay Dying picked up a few Slayer and Kreator albums, listened to them, and say to themselves, "So this is what good music sounds like. We have strayed so far from the path."
Just kidding. I actually like As I Lay Dying. They kind of grow on you after a while, if you like metalcore, of course.
Just finished listening to the song. Pretty cool. Look forward to getting the album.

Bleh, now there are going to be a whole bunch of scene/emo kids getting into thrash. I would rather have metalcore stay core and away from the real shit.

Not likely... It's not like thrash or even hardcore mixed with thrash didn't exist before As I Lay Dying changed their style. They still know what core music sounds like, and they still love breakdowns, and thats all they want to hear. Most people who like the new stuff already like thrash to begin with.

Honestly AILD was the only metalcore band that had talent
Despite the crappy singer
There pretty good
I really like the new song
I have Sirius Radio station
and alot of the people on Hard Attack dig that song
Hopefully, like others said, this emo/hardcore/metalcore/screamo shit will die down and actually, I'm hoping for a new wave of Thrash metal, maybe even a new wave of better Black Metal
This Cradle of Filth shit thats going on....that needs to stop
Pretty good song overall though

new genre! Quasi-Thrash
They have nice moments but it really does sound like they just evolved a more thrashy exterior to add flavor to their metalcore moments, which is the meat of that song.
I'd rather be listening to Coroner and Megadeth.
