Yeah, so recently I wanted to change the crappy pickups in my Ibanez RG1527, to a better sound since the stock ones are way too muddy for my style. I'm mostly looking for a John Petrucci type of sound. I've done some research on it and found two that may get me the best sound.

Neck Pickup: Dimarzio Air Norton 7
Bridge Pickup: Dimarzio Tone Zone DP755

I just want to know what would be best for a 7-string.

Petrucci uses the D Sonic7 in his 7 string guitars.

I think I get good tone off my Seymour Duncan's, JB and '59. No mud, but still heavy, and good character.

Perhaps either the Ibanez AH7-1 and 2 (they use them in their S series 7 string) or a Dimarzio Blaze II might be great for the sound you want.
