Phlegm!
So i went on vacation with the family to south carolina, and about halfway through the vacation I contracted some sort of illness that causes my throat to swell and get heavy amounts of (thick/hard) mucus. I would like to beleive it's just the common cold, but it's been almost a week since I got the illness.
well it has made it almost near impossible to make as pristine sounding vocals as I have done before, instead when I try now (after clearing my throat of a 8oz wad of mucus) i sound like a little 8 year old trying to imitate death metal or something.
it cracks, pops, and mutes, it also tends to go into a "dry" noise on cirtain sylables, trust me, it sucks, I cant get any tone out of it.
do any of you have any solutions before I go out and buy loads of musinex?

Do some coke
On the more serious side of things, you most likely had a minor allergic reaction to something in the place you were vacationing and irritated your throat/sinus's or got a sinus infection.
I have sinus infections quite often, I suggest just drinking alot of water and shit

i brewed some nice warm green tea, the tea is old and i found it deep in my pantry so it tasted like crap, but it did the trick and relaxed my throat and calmed the mucus for about 40 minutes.
About the allergic reaction, i've been back in florida for days now, and it's still getting to me, you think within a day or two it would go away as soon as I got here, down here I usually only have extreme mucus and illness like qualities towards the end of october.

its a sinus infection or allergic reaction as i said before its not going to kill him, if it were going to kill him, a week into it like he is now, he'd be dead...
And then we wouldn't be having this conversation.
ALSO try not singing for a couple days give them shits a rest son

if the throat doesn't hurt and it has only phlegm, you can try cleaning it using vocal. How? Well, try something like very low screech (or whatever it is). I always do that after throat infections to clear my throat, so i could growl.

I cant seem to growl or guttural worth a damn with the mucus, and it'll randomly build up in the middle of a growl or a guttural and totally fucks me up.
I dont think's serious enough to see a doctor for.
untill it gets better, lots of tea.
i should be resting my voice, but I like to practice every day.

.... just wait it out bro thats the only thing you can do. and i dont see it being a problem unless you have a gig comin up. if you dont practice for a week or two your not even going to feel a diferance really

Okay,
update: i'm pretty sure I had/have the flu and complications were Pneumonia, which was either caused by a viral/bacteria or because i flew off of a water tube 70+ mph while one vacation.
I've yet to see a doctor about this, but after some extencive internet research i've come close to that conclusion.
