I can already see this being a somewhat gay experience. Hopefully i don't have to deal with undisciplined pussy college students, but i have a feeling that won't be the case. Not to mention i can already see them getting yelled at left and right.

Although maybe the training will be decent, hopefully fun at best.

BTW jump school is the school where you learn how to parachute out of planes. As long as i'm still in the program in 2 weeks i will get to jump out of 2 different planes 5 times with 2 different parachutes.

the rain is pretty strong, lately. 2 nights ago, i heard the most powerful blast of thunder, in my life, and i was outside. holy fuck it was harsh. i called my friend, and he says "dude, that thunder knocked a painting off my wall." haha. im not sure who was closer to it, but after the really hard crack, my ears were ringing, and it took about 15-20 seconds for the thunder's sound to travel out, into the distance. thus, it was also the longest, single, thunder ive ever heard.

last night (july 4), was some hellish lightning, as well. it was constant, for at least 1 straight hour. funZ!!!!!!! and a lot less hassle than fireworks.

Well i think i'm going to leave jump school. I just found out last night while watching transformers (kick ass movie by the way) that my best friend was killed in afganistan, and i find it to be extremely inappropriate for me not to go to his funeral. What stinks is its a weekend and there is nobody here to talk to about it. (instructors / marine detachment staff) I thought about staying here and finishing it out and then going and visiting like his parents or something but it wouldn't be right. Hes not the kind of guy you visit his parents just by yourself.

He was a party mother fucker and hes just part of the large group... so i have to make my appearance. Ironically enough he's Army airborne....He also died on July 4th as i hear it. So i figure i'm going to fly home, drive back up to DC, grab my Alpha Service uniform and drive to north carolina to be with all my friends.

So yeah i'm definitely pretty tore up over this whole thing.

The school is actually extremely lame. I heard (and believe) the only good part about it is when you actually jump out of planes.

But to be honest i've been unmotivated about coming since before i even came and this really doesn't help. To me its a matter of whats more important and i don't see the... "so long" celebration and party to be less important to me than getting through this course. I've wanted to just go home since just about i landed in australia.

What sucks is its now down to a moral choice. I talked to my gunny earlier about it and he basically suggested that i stay and get through the course. But i'm already at risk of failing hte pft on monday anyways. The marine detachment here had to call my unit and ask my XO whether or not he wanted me to stay because i didn't quite make the marine standards for the army pft and that if i went before the airborne sergeants here they probably wouldn't have counted a couple of my pushups and i wouldn't have passed anyway.

So the moral dilemma is whether or not i just... "throw" the pft for the purpose of coming back and going to my friends funeral, obviously under the guise that i failed because i wasn't physically quallified. I was actually hoping (before knowing this about my friend) that my unit wasn't going to be able to get a hold of the marine detachment and they just send me home anyways.
