There is nothing similar between those songs...their picking is different from each other....technically too...both aren't technic yes....but it's not like playing skull for a maggots and cant be able to play a Nirvana's song...i would laugh at you though!!!!

In my quest to learn some guitar songs, I have learned the following;
Arch Enemy; The Immortal
Amon Amarth; Pursuit of Vikings and Runes to my Memory (I love this band so much)
Bleeding Through; On Wings of Lead (I have problems with this one riff that's written differently than waht it sounds like on the cd. I guess the person who tabbed it out doesn't understand the significance of a pick-up note. I also still have trouble doing the pinch harmonics, which I'm still learning how to do).
Part of Deicides "Homage for Satan."
Slipknot; Sic, The Blister Exists, Three Nil, and Duality (I'm making use of this book I bought a while ago with Slipknot guitar tabs. I spent 20 or so bucks on it.)

One question to y'all. On Dark Tranquillity's "Treason Wall," there's this one part where I have to hit pinch harmonics on the G string (or, with the tuning I"m playing in, the Eb string). Does having a wrapped string make it easier to do pinch harmonics, or not? I've been needing to get new strings, and I'm thinking of getting the same ones my friend got where the G-string is wrapped, for various reasons including this one.

Having a wound or unwound G, in my experiences, never affects the ability to do pinch harmonics. I've only had a wound G three times. So maybe I'm not the number 1 authority. But it seems to not have any effect, to me.

I'm probably still gonna get a wound one, though. In my whole experience, the g-string has always been the hardest to tune. Hell, all the unwound ones are hardest to tune, but I always get so frustrated with the g-string. The g-string I have on my guitar, though, is bent by the 12'th fret, so I'm thinking that's why it's impossible to tune correctly. Plus, it's hard to play power chords on it. The slightest bend makes it sound wrong.

well this tuning is pretty weird...its very low so harmo are very easy, but powerchords are like...very weird...but g-strings harmos are easy bend it a little bit...when i say a little bit it's like...you wont hear a bend but enough to hear a harmo...hard to describe it

Also in regards to tuning, this should probably go in the guitar thread but a friend showed me a cool trick that helps you get in and stay in tune faster : Wipe your strings down from bridge to nut with the palm of your hand to warm them before you start twisting pegs.
