Baritone guys...im getting alot of pick noise please help.
Ok so i just bought a baritone that is 28 scale. The strings that came stock on it where low string 60 gauge. the guitar came with stock actives.... (just some background info)
Alright to the problem, When i play triplets or really anything on the low B string, i get pick noise pretty bad. It sounds like ch ch ch...but not the good chuggin sound that palm muting gives....its kinda high pitched. Its hard to explain. Now i thought it was just the stock active pickups because they were really noisy. But i went and bought an EMG 85 for the bridge, and im still getting it. When i installed the 85 i just kept the original stock active hardware (battery connection, vol/tone pots ect.) and wired the 85 to it. So any ideas what is causing this? Could it be the stock hardware is just not great and i should get it pro installed with the EMG hardware? I also tried lowering the string gauge down to 54, it plays easier but i still have the sound. Its not my pick attack that is causing it, because i have more then 1 guitar and this is only happening on the baritone. Could it be the ebony board? I read somewhere that ebony makes the pick attack stand out...Any ideas ?
Thanks guys...

Try altering the angle you're holding the pick at, if the sharp ending is pointing directly down towards the string there should be very little pick attack, but the more the side of the pick touches the string the more pick attack there is. If thats not it, it could be the strings.

I had this same problem when I loaded an X2N-7 into my RG1527, the low B string, on a .059 string.
I can't remember exactly how I fixed it. But I did sacrifice some tone in the process. Try turing your presence and treble down a bit, and fuck around with your EQ.

problematic is right. In regards to amp tweaks, lower down some of the trebel.
My reccommendation is to get some Pickboy Picks. The quietest ones i've tried are the 1mm scorpion ones. They have virtually 0 pick noise like you're describing, but have VERY fat tone and great attack. Tortex picks (the somewhat rough dull ones by dunlop) are REALLY loud on the attack, and could be causing alot of it. IMO, the pickboy picks sound WAYYY better than any dunlop i've ever tried.
Other than that, i'd say move your palm back a bit so you aren't muting so heavily.
