No tone pots

Does not having a tone pot make a difference in overall sound?
I have a Ibanez and the volume pot is very "free", ie. it moves very easily, and i was thinking of swapping it to the tone pot and disconnecting the tone one.
Ideas? Suggestions?

No it wont change anything soundwise, I sometimes do this in certain guitars especially fenders or ibanez's, sometimes the volume knob is too close to the pickup and it interferes with my playing or im always turning the knob unintentionally. I dont disconnect the tone pot though, I just tape it up inside the body cavity and move the volume pot over. I fill the hole with a round head bolt so it doesnt look so bad.

If its the actual pot youre concerned with, theyre easily bought at any music store, just disconnect the wires from the old one and resolder the wires in the exact same place as the new one.

I prefer having no tone pot, as it's always on full anyway. Having a tone pot is more likely to affect the sound than not having one.

Thanks guy's, out she goes!!!.I installed EMG's ( a tight fit in a 'S' series ), but i find the EMG pots are too easily turned.
And like Numustdie I'm constantly turning it down with my pinky when i play lead.

Yeah, EMG pot's looseness annoys me now and again. Nothing you can do to 'tighten' them either.

Yeah both my guitars with them are the same, after the first one I was hoping it was a anomaly. But apparently not
