I just got a Framus COBRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FINA-FUCKING-LY! My baby is here! I paid a decent price for it as well. Got a great deal. My one problem? haha I don't have a cabinet yet.
I was wondering if you guys could suggest some cabinets that would go well with the Framus. I was thinking either Marshall or Mesa. What do you guys suggest?

marshall is pretty the industry standard basically so that should be good, have you looked at the framus cabs im pretty sure they make some and those 'should' be the best one for the amp but.. i have heard engl cabs are awsome and check out vader cabs aswell

Well I am mostly looking for something easy to get. I will get the Framus cab later on I just need something to tie me over until then. I just don't want to have to order anything.

Its weird you guys have to wait for orders over there, its something just unheard of in the UK. The Framus Cobra Cab has Celestion Greenbacks in it, so you should try and get something with those in. What are the Avatar/ Vader waiting times like? I'd maybe get one of them and slap the Greenbacks in. The Cobra cab is ideally suited to the amp though so I'd probably go with that if you can.

Uh why not get the Framus Dragon cab? It has v30's. I have Framus' 2x12 with v30's and it kicks ass. The dragon cab is 500 euros here, should be around 600$ USD or a little more over there?
Congratulations man! Finally made up your mind.
Vader will ship to Canada, so look into their cabs.

What are you willing to spend on a cab?, being in T.O. you wont be able to buy many different high end ones, unless you order them or import them, which = waiting time and\or extra dough for duties. Youre looking a 4X12 or 2X12? I like my Bogner Uberkab with the Cobra but I paid 1200 cnd and waited 3 months, your probably in more of a rush.

I am going to look into the Framus cabs later on. But right now I just want a cabinet that would suite the needs just for now. I'm looking for a 4x12 cabinet. The only brands I can find in the stores are Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Hiwatt, Peavey, Orange, Crate and Randall. I was thinking either Marshall, Mesa or Peavey.

well mesa's are heavy and bassy, if you are in T.O, go to steve's music, the guys there will help you out greatly...Avatar cabs are wicked though, i'd personally just order them

A dragon cabinet eh? Do you think that would be better than the Cobra cab?

I would guess not as the Cobra is voiced specifically for the head. Both are constructed in a similar if not identical manner though. I've only heard positive things about both but also the fact that Framus got it spot on when voicing the Cobra for Greenbacks. I have heard though that V30's sound good at low volumes whereas the Greenbacks not so much, they sound better when cranked, something to bear in mind if you are in a band or not.

OK well I did some research and it turns out the Cobra cab is really bright sounding. Probably due to the metal grill. The Dragon cab is more warm sounding. So I'll probably go for that. But until then which Marshall cabinet would you recomend? I am trying to get a dark sound (Soeru knows what I'm talking about haha ) So I though Marshall might be the best.

The Cobra cab is bright sounding because of the Greenback speakers, if you can easily get a Mesa, id recommend the Mesa Recto Traditional with V30's. I bit more solid than Marshalls, theyll handle the lowend with ease.

Ok, well a couple of things, the Cobra cab is bright because the Head is probably very dark: they balance each other out. If you get a dark cab with a dark head its going to sound, well go figure..... However I think Soeru would recommend the Marshall Mode 4 cab loaded with Celestion G12k-100's for a dark sound. I had one of those speakers too and it was quite dark. A good place to ask for tips is the bmusic forum: www.guitarsatbmusic.com.au/forum/index.php They have a dedicated sub forum for Framus and theres a big Cobra following there. HTH.

Hey yeah that's not a bad suggestion. I had the MF400 cab(not the 280, which has v30's), and it was a wicked cab. I wouldn't say exactly "dark" and brown like a boogie or Orange cab but it did have massively tight supernova-like low end, but also had tons of clear piercing highs(high mids and treble, not fizzy presence) so it's an extremely clear sounding cab and will make any mid-heavy amp like a Cobra or a Fireball/powerball sound insanely brutal.

Awsome. I'll check out that Mode 4 cabinet. Cause I read on some other forums that people complained the Cobra being too bright. So I think a darker sounding cab would help it. What kind of speakers did the MF400 have?

dude, last week, steves had a brand new mesa 4x12 for 1200. Thats a fuckin DEAL considering thats how much i've seen used ones go for. Loaded with v30's. Also, they have an orange 4x12 going for 999, which might be lightly used, but it looked immaculate when i checked it out. Theres another huge deal right there, also loaded with v30's. Downsides: heavy ass motherfuckers, no castors.

Hmm I don't know about the orange. I'll check out that Mesa and if they have any Marshall I'll check those out as well.

Uh, did you read what I posted? The MF400 isn't a very dark cab, it's all-around. Huge tight lowend, but tons of good treble to make the thing cut extremely well. The MF400 has Celestion G12K-100 speakers, slightly boosted bass and treble response.

I would have actually said V30's are kinda dark compared to some other speakers I've played but I think cabinet construction plays a large role too.

I was also recomended Peavey as a possible cab company. Would Peavey cabinets be worth looking into?

I don't really know why, I've never heard that they make particularly special cabs, not bad, not good...... Definitely wouldn't be my first choice.

Yeah I was a bit confused when the guy at the store recomended them. But then again i've seen a lot of players who use Marshall heads play through Peavey cabinets and it sounds ok.
Personally I think I'll stick with the Marshalls. They seem reliable and I won't have to pay an arm and a leg for them.

Safe bet. If you can buy pre-2000 models I would though. The production was moved to China and the use of cheap woods (particleboard etc) was employed after this.
