Down tune with fixed bridge?

Since the two guitars I have are floyd rose trems I have a question on fixed bridges.

I have come to like playing in C/ drop C tuning. Is a fixed bridge the best choice for playing this low? Would it require 13's and messing with the truss rod, or could I stick with 10's, as I have with the floyd? Should my guitar quest be with floyd roses if I'm looking at playing this low?

I've been drooling over these Schecter C-1 Hellraisers for months now, really would like the string through fixed bridge, but could go for a floyd.

Thanks!

doesnt matter what kind of bridge you really have, either way there will be adjustments. With floyds, you'll have to mess with springs to make sure the bridge is level... and with both fixed and whammy bridges, there will be truss adjustments. For Drop C, i'd recommend 11's... or 10-52 set, but those will be a little slack; my personal preference is 11 or 12-56's.

I would totally use 12s. My guitar in "B" has 13s on it. And the one in D has 11s on it. Both of them have Floyd Roses and I only had to make mimimal adjustments. Nothing to do with the truss rod. Basically changing the amount of springs in the back and intonating. Not that big of a deal.

More low you play, more big your strings must be.

With your floyd, I suggest you to up your trems..(there are 2 screws near the trems, one beside the 6th string and one beside the 1st string..(hexagonal key is needed).

And, how can you play in C...drop C, i mean you cant drop your stirng in C if you are already in C!, maybe it's an error or something!

I think he's just asking if it's possible to tune to drop tunings easily with floyds. Yeah I have my Charvel in drop A with .59-.13's, it's very simple. You can also get a EVH D-tuna for your floyd which makes it easier for switching from regular to drop tunings(in your case, drop C to D standard), although the new Tremol-no addon costs the same and does exactly that plus other stuff, so look into that.

NO, I already have guitars with floyd rose tuned to C.

I'm interested in buying a new guitar to also tune to C or drop C. My question was, whether or not it would be better to buy one with a floyd rather then a fixed bridge? I preferably wouldn't want to use strings heavier then 11's.

well mfloyd or not, when you play low like C, you need bigger strings when its a fixed bridge (my old guitar couldnt support without bigger strings and i didnt used a floyd)

with a floyd, bigger strings is not a must, just up your trems.

i would go for a floyd if you play solos and bend, and if you are lazy
thats what i would go up for, a floyd

Yeah but if you up the floyd your action would go to shit, so I wouldn't do that. Personally I always think its good to have a variation if you have more than one guitar, so definitely go for the fixed bridge. I have the C1 Hellraiser and its amazing, utterly fantastic for the price. I've played multiple Jacksons and Ibanez's from £200-800 and nothing gets close in terms of looks, build quality, sound etc IMO. Just make sure you play the neck beforehand as its not as wide as a Jackson and not as thin as an Ibanez but I prefer it like that. I play in D Standard and use 11-52 D'addario's but I'm going to go lower (C Standard) and I'll probably switch to DR 13-56's and then buy a plain .24 for the third string as I don't really like the idea of a wound one. Hope that helps, oh yeah and buy the Avenger version of the Hellraiser; looks cooler!

im sorry but i think this is a stupid question. Neither are better or worse, its ALLL PREFERENCE. get what you will use. If you're guna need a whammy, get it with the whammy. If you want a break from whammies, dont get a whammy. its so rediculously simple that asking it in a forum is just wasting your time.
