Ska?
Does anybody else here listen to much Ska? (Or reggae for that matter) I love ska and reggae (Mostly for the delicious basslines) and have been looking for instrumental ska for some time now... but no success. Anybody know of any good instrumental ska?
Thanks

The closest thing to ska that I listen to is Sublime... if that's even considered close.

I listen to reggae(Groundation,Black Uhuru,Steel Pulse,Max Romeo,Burning Spear etc.),now that I think about it I listen only to reggae since last year.
The only ska bands I know are Mano Negra and Ska-p,not instrumental though.
If you can recommend any other good reggae(roots) bands I'd appreciate it.

Yeah, in his opinion. It's quite arrogant to say "It's the worst genre". He might not like it, but some people do. Ah... ignorant people are almost as funny as Christians. Wait... Christians are ignorant

well, i don't know what to say. I'm not sure what i am ignorant about. Maybe advanced physics and some literature but other than that most people see me as being pretty smart. I scored a 135 on my iq test. I study computer networking and repair. I read music theory books for fun. Geography and history intrigue me. I don't really see how i'm ignorant. I guess I must be really idiotic compared to you blitz. Hmmmmm. I guess if you are going to call a christian ignorant you might as well call every religious person in the world ignorant then, and i think we all know that there are very wise people in every religion despite what you think of the religion itself.

Well, you're ignorant on a few counts, based on your last couple posts. First, you're ignorant of the meaning of 'ignorant,' which you'll have to admit is kinda funny. You show that ignorance when you think an IQ test has anything to do with whether or not you're ignorant. Next, you're ignorant of the fact that there are dozens and dozens of IQ tests geared toward different aspects of your intelligence, and that most of them are of dubious quality; this shows when you think your IQ score on some unspecified IQ test matters. You're apparently ignorant of the study a few years back that jokingly said that the better-educated somebody was the dumber they were; the actual point of the study was that the better-educated somebody was the dumber they felt, since their education just showed them all the worlds of knowledge they knew very little about. In other words, a sign of a good education is knowing how small your breadth knowledge is compared to the big store of it shared among all humans, which is more or less the opposite of the attitude expressed in your post. Finally, you're apparently ignorant of the fact that the internet is a place for meaningless hyperbole and sloppy spelling/grammar and want to pull brains on strangers by chewing them out for shit you should be ignoring.
Seriously, man, if you want to come off smart the way to do it isn't by claiming you know so much you fart Fermat and then refusing to take a minute to read something by somebody who's obviously on your side because it's got a syntactical error in it that should make it 1/100000000000000000th more difficult to interpret. You do it just by breathing if that's what you are, and certainly by ignoring the shit that isn't important (like whether or not there's an 'an' in a sentence you know should have one). Until then you're just a pretentious jack-off.
I also like Jamaican ska and not particularly American ska.

i wasn't showing you smart i am merely by an iq test, that is why i listed other things that i study and enjoy learning about. I already know that iq tests can be faulty. I was mainly trying to get across that if im ignorant then we all must be ignorant. I think ignorance has nothing to do with faith. I mean come on most of the great composers and scientists of the last millenium came from my religious background so to say that christians are ignorant is indeed being ignorant.

I would go to a Ska concert but I wouldn't listen to it on my own time. I never went through a Ska phase. However, I have some friends that used to be hardcore Reel Big Fish fans. All in all, it seems like a really happy form of music.

Define "Stereotypical Metalfag"....
Are you implying that metalheads are fags? In a METAL forum? Are you also implying that we are all the same? (Stereotypical)

When somebody calls religious people ignorant they usually aren't too bright themselves, true. But behaving like a prig doesn't do you much better.
So, let's talk about ska. I prefer dub, where the bass drives the action.

exactly, and if the threadstarter is looking for instrumental ska, they probably want some dub. i highly recommend trying out some bill laswell, especially bill laswell and n.j. bullen's (ex- napalm death!) "bass terror"

sure just don't expect any horns or that typical stuff. dub is usually just filled with bass-grooves and minimal down-tempo beats and/or breaks. but hell, if you want a good ska band, i don't know many, but my brother used to like Operation Ivy and that was pretty good stuff (they turned into Rancid, one of the early neo-punk bands before all of the modern punk wanna-be garbage of today)

Infinity once again... ruins the thread...
anyway i think ska is awesome regardless of whether you like ska or not the fact that it is probably the most catchy genre ever and the genre that includes more interesting instruments stands. =)

I'll check out some dub when I have a few spare minutes on my hands. I really love instrumental ska (from what I have heard) If anybody here has heard "Flossing a Dead Horse" by NOFX... you'll know what I mean
