What pedal in this clip?
Ok, firstly don't hate just because its Zakk, I just like his tone on this clip. Anyone know what he uses at around 0.47m? Sounds like a wah coupled with full volume on the 81. Anything else in there? Thanks guys.

I think he's using a Boss Super Overdrive with the distortion of some Marshall amp. The wah is a Jimi Hendrix wah by Dunlop.

He still uses the boss chorus from time to time. His pedal board is basically: ZW overdrive, rotovibe, boss/mxr chorus, VH phase 90, ZW wah.

Yeah I know about the boss stuff but I know that he had his old setup on that vid(sd-1, ch-2, jimi wah).

He plays either the Marshall mini stack or AVT combo usually when not on stage.

So which Wah would people recommend to get that smooth, violin sustain thing he's got going on, especially when he bends those high notes? Has anyone played Zakk's sig Wah?

Pretty much any wah will do the trick unless you're somekind of nit-picky gear bitch. . I have an old ass Dunlop original that like almost 20 years old, but it gets the job done. The ZW wah is great but it's probably not something you want if you want a smooth tone. The Dime and Zakk wah's are the ones in the Dunlop line with the most aggressive and treble-heavy tones.

Ok cool, put it another way: which wah will cut through when running loads of gain, because I know some don't like really dirty amps too much? Anyone know for certain whether he's use the Jimi Hendrix wah on this clip?

Doesn't really matter, of course they're different, but you get the Original, Classic, Hendrix, Wylde, or pretty much any other Dunlop wah, they've got their own specific tweaks, but overall the tone on them are similar. You can get that tone just fine w/ a Original or a Classic. A lot of it has to do with your tone settings anyways.

I have a classic CGB-95F, miles ahead of the original one.

I really can't see that much of a difference........even so, that in no means, means that the original is bad.

Wahs are another case of different strokes for different folks. A lot of the special/signature models are tailored to sweep different frequencies, and give different sounds. Some may offer the same sound as another but just have less or more of a range on the treble and/or bass side. I have the original, and I like it..but I could see where one may want something a bit different or more extreme etc.

The original is a 40$ pedal while the classic F version retails for about 120$, there is a big difference in sound as I have owned both. Bigger sweep, less presence, less noise, though they do look identical they don't sound the same.

Haha, another question as I'm still unsure what and how I can get the sound I'm looking for. How much effect does the Wah have in a stationary position? It seems that Zakk uses it all the way up i.e. biased towards the treble end, I don't give a crap about all that chacka chacka shit, just something to make my signal less 'dry', reverb just isn't enough. What do Chris/Michael from Arch Enemy use on Doomsday Machine, particularly the Nemesis solos? I'm torn between a wah and a chorus....

The original is a $70 pedal, and the classic is about $100....I don't know which ones you're talking about. I've played both extensively, yeah, there's probably some difference, but it's really not overwhelming, at least to me.
