IBANEZ S, SZ SERIES

Im lookin for a new guitar to start gigging and considering buying emg pick-ups at the same time. I play mostly metal influenced by tool, shadows fall, mudvayne. I like the look of the S and SZ series guitars and i know a few professionals use them. Most likely lookin at the S320 with emg-81 and emg-65 pick-ups. If anyone knows how these series of guitars play and can comment that would be great thanks.

the s series guitars are pretty good, thin necks and good trems, only problem is they can sound a bit thin sometimes. I also prefer 24.75 scale necks so they aint my thing, maybe try the sz guitars out instead

the S series i really liked. the body is TINY and really thin on the sides as well. neat weight as well. ive only seen/tried out the S320, and thought that that guitar was fairly cheap considering that its trem even had a tremol-no(tremolo blocking device) on it, and couple of other things. i found that guy at about 550 bucks

but try harmonycentral.com for reviews

I love the S series. My only problem is they only have 22 frets.

My favourite S series is probably the 7 string model. But again the 22 frets bothers me.

i've played rg's forever but i've been considering an s but the 22 frets is a definite turn off. how's that work on 2 guitars with the same scale length? is the spacing actually different or is it just simply the two highest frets are missing? i'v e never been sure of that.

I think it depends. On Fender and some Kramers there is a space between the pickup and neck where as some 22 fret guitars have the neck and pickups right next to each other. I am not sure just guessing

humm....yeah, i always wondered that 25 3/4 and 24 1/2 scale thing. some fret boards have 24 frets, while others have 21 frets(or 22...) and have the same scale. perhaps the scale only matters from the 1st fret to the 12th, and then everything below it just follows the same pattern?

nah, first to 12th fret is WAY less than 25 inches
