I just picked up a Peavey 5150 cab yesterday and it only has two of the original Sheffeild Speakers in it. I have two Celestion V30's and was wondering if it would sound ok if I ran them in the cab with the Sheffeilds.

They are all the same ohms and size, I was just wondering if running two different brands in the same cab was a nono.

Generally its cool to run 2 different kinds of speakers in one cab, put it this way, it won't screw anything up- you'll still be way over the needed wattage to cope with almost any Head. I'm not sure in terms of tone how well they match as I've never tried that particular pairing before. Best thing is try it out and see. I haven't heard anything bad about running V30's with a 5150 head (which I guess is what you have??)

I mix and match Eminence Swamp Thangs and Texas Heats with mine, sounds good.

Some brands even make cabs with 2 diffrent kinds of speakers in them .... so yeah, it's safe if all the speakers are in good condition and all.

all you need to worry about is the impendance(ohmage) matching up. from there, brand name, size, model, ect.. doesnt mean shit.

as far as how that speaker combo sounds... eh, decide for yourself.
