static from guitar??

I have a Kramer Striker
and when i am playing the guitar it sounds
totally fine, but when i turn the volume down
and take my hands off the guitar there is this static
type noise coming from the guitar!

any ideas on what it could be?

Yes, that is connecting the bridge and therefore the strings to the ground path. But if you still get that fuzz its because something else inside your electronics cavity isnt properly grounded. Take it to someone that knows how to solder and get em to re-do all the connections.

Note... if you are using EMGs the groundwire shouldn't be connected, Not sure about other active pups like duncan Livewires though. But for passives it should definitely be connected.

If thats fine then give all the wiring a check.

Agreed. Besides having all the joints re-soldered, also have new wire put in at the same time. Something might have a dirty contact. New or cleaned pots and switches couldn't hurt while you've got everything open.

If that fails then try a different guitar through you FX/amp setup and see if the problem remains. Check back.

well today i took the guitar to my local guitar shop
and told him the problem and he said the best bet is to
go to a hardware shop and ask for some copper insulation
and tape the whole of the back cavity (not where the springs are)
the cavity where the volume pots are this should dull down the noise
loads (but he said if it dosent completely go) tape the pickup cavity's aswell
to stop all interferance

is this correct or?
