How many of you in bands have heard people talking shit about your band? How do you react to that? I know not everyone will love you music but i really dont know how to respond to this.We are playing thrash when metalcore/screamo is really popular and some people dont like us b/c we play thrash.And that is the only reason.So should we just care that we like it and play for ourselves or what?

I say fuck em, sometimes they raise a valid opinion... But often times its sceney kids who don't like what your doing. On the other side of the coin I am sure you said "O that gay ass band sounds like As I Lay Dying or some other shitty band" its not really a big deal if someone shit talks as we all do it.

we dont have breakdowns and we dont switch from scream to clean so i dont expect the KSE kids to like us! I love what we are doing b/c we dont sound like anyone else.We have technical thrash songs with gutturals and some sepultura style singing over top,Its awesome!

Everyone claims to love my band, but I think it's because they are afraid to tell me otherwise. I hop they really hate it because I don't want them to. I just like to play live and have people get hurt because of it.

I respect their opinions, especially if they are a better guitarist than myself.

it's all fuel to succeed. if some people hate it i just want to get better and bigger to prove them wrong (not the only reason but it's a big factor)

Someone was talking shit about my band last night, WHILE hitting on my singer's girlfriend. He was just like "you're boyfriends music is bullshit, come back to my place and I'll show you some good music". Yeah, and he's a fuckin weed obsessed hippie who listens to experimental jazz.
It pissed me off and bothers me, but at the same time if they are complete dumbasses like this guy is, I just don't let it get to me much.

I pretty much have decided that regardless of whatever u play some people are just not gonna like it.Im playing this music cuz i love it and everyone in the band loves the vocals as do more of the older metalheads that have heard us play,We are just gonna keep true to our roots and what we love and left the shit talking slide off.

If he was truly a hippie i doubt he would have such a line to say to your lead singers girlfriend. Anyway if a hippie(if he truly was one) said your music sucks you must really blow, since their always high and tripping.

Does it really matter to you if someone says your band sucks? If a small minority or just even my self enjoys my music I'm satisfied.

Dude are you like 14? Don't worry what some skeevy scene kid says, if your really that angsty, your going to have a hard time playing metal. Lots of people will talk shit, and if your singer has a hot girlfriend probably hit on her. What you should have said to the hippie was "Well you might be able to show her better music, but its hard to know if its better in 3 seconds...", or lock him in your basement like cartman its up to you
