Requiem: Thanks for correcting me. Yea, I forgot it's under Programs.
Anyways, if you don't see a driver listed then you don't have drivers installed for your CD-ROM. Simple as that. Is this for a CD Burner, DVD Burner, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or any combination of the following? List what ROM devices you have. Search for the following file MSCDEX.EXE on your harddrive and see if it exists (not case sensitive). I would also recommend running windows update for it searches for hardware driver updates as well.

Just open up Internet Explorer, then click on Tools at the top and select Windows Update.
Did you find that file? See if the file C:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys exists as well.
To get drivers for your DVD Burner, just goto the manufacturer's website and look up your model. They should have the newest drivers available to download.

No, then you're just single and virgin.
But to be serious, I guess you would just be an X-files geek if you loved the X-files.

What brand is your DVD Burner drive? Did you buy a Dell, HP, E-machine, or other store bought computer? If so, you would need to goto their website and look up your model under support and drivers. If it's a DVD Burner you purchased seperately and installed yourself (or had someone install it), you need to visit that specific manufacturer's (NEC, Acer, etc) website.
The cd-rom is different, it uses windows xp default cdrom.sys driver file. Did you ever see if you had that cdrom.sys file on your computer?
Take a look at some of these
http://www.pcguide.com/proc/setup/cddriver-c.html
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320553
What did you do to cause the computer to no longer recognize your cd-rom? That last link talks about when you upgrade to service pack 2 or install xp, it can cause your computer to no longer recognize the rom devices. Please explain to us what happened to cause all this.

It was a store bought PC from Best Buy. The model number is T6524. I don't know exactly what I did for the computer to stop reading my drives. Should I call Best Buy?
This is really starting to piss me off. It's been over 3 weeks that I can't burn cds.
I'm thinking if I could have a chat with someone to walk me through the steps, I could fix it myself. Davie, do you have aol instant messenger? PM me...

Hey,
I recently got the game Neverwinter Nights 2 for my computer and when I try to play it it just says I need Direct 3D. I've looked all over for information or a download for it but I can't find shit. I've tried downloading numerous Direct X updates but none of them changed anything. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

There should be a preferences (or options, possibly configuration) at the top menu bar. Then look for default download directory and set that to where you want the files to go to.

I really wanted to stop posting on this site but this is the only thread that needs my presence.
Moe_blunts, you are asking "how to change the download location", yes?
Click on the options tabs, now click on Files, choose File Directory and change it to your prefered Directory. Hope this helped you.

The manufacturer's website should have a compatibility section for each card.

I've recently started downloading a lot of movies. I heard you can watch movies from your computer on your television. How would i do such athing? Is there such a thing as a RCA to USB cable? Would I need to download a program or does it automatically broadcast on the tv?

I don't really know about this. But I doubt you need a program on your PC to do it. Just go to your local tech store and ask for help.
I just went to Austin and I noticed a lot.

Simple. Just get a video card with T.V. Out. No software needed, the output is S-Video. You just go into the video card options under Display and set it to output to T.V. You can have it just output to tv, clone tv and monitor together, or extend the desktop to your tv (like dual monitors, one being your tv).

If you're just wanting a card with t.v. out, you can score one for $20

Give this a gander. My buddy showed me it and I was ready to download it but then my other friend was like, "don't do it, it has spyware." idk if he's right yet but I'm just giving you a heads up.

Not really, I use a modified version of WMP6. It works charm due to it's small size and it isn't .exe you just double click the file and it opens(called stand-alone I believe).

Too lazy to check for you haha.
But I'll give you a link to a site that probably has just what you're looking for.

It's actually very useful. Been around for ages. Hackers use it to run unix code on windows machines. I used to use it to program on windows machines.

After looking around for a Windows computable shell I finally found PuTTy Portable.
I haven't found too many flaws in it. PuTTy seems to only be able to emulate the bash.
