Craig Ewert's assisted suicide, filmed for a documentary on euthanasia. There's more info about it in the video's description.

Whoa, that was interesting...

They just give them a Barbiturate drink, but I'm not sure quite how that would feel to die from.

I was thinking the same thing, I often wonder how effective these kinds of drugs are in terms of painlessness/stress levels. Seeing no visible "problems" as an outside observer doesn't fill me with confidence that the dying person is calmly and gently passing away haha. The same goes for the likes of the lethal injection. I think I'd prefer something a little more old fashioned, like a bullet in the head. Ideally I'd love to have the option of having very high explosives strapped to me, turning me into a fine paste in an instant. No pain, and no bizarre, nightmarish dying thoughts. Cheaper funeral, too; a big bag of Blessed Doritos, wielded by the solemn hand of Father Dippy Chippy.

I'd like to think that they've tested such lethal solutions in laboratories while moderning an animal (or even human's) brain imaging to see if all is well or not. Although, with the barbiturate drink, I can't imagine anyone feeling anything other than "Dude, I'm going to die. Ahh, yeah.. thats quite alright with me." But from what I understand it wasn't the drink that killed him, it just really fucking sedated him and he cut off his own life support.

I can't imagine being the wife. Fuck!

I've read reports about the lethal injection detailing the excruciating pain the prisoner seems to suffer if the paralysing agent isn't injected first (which seems to be more for the benefit of the onlooker than the prisoner). Convulsions and grimacing such. That, coupled with the fact that the lethal injection is administered by a non-doctor (a real doctors' Hippocratic oath prevents them from taking part) bothers me haha. I'm sure the guy in this clip didn't suffer much though, and as you say it probably wasn't the drug that killed him. I just worry about the internal, mental issues involved. If you've ever been knocked conscious or had a big bang to the head, or had the blood cut off to your brain (I don't asphyxie-wank, by the way haha) the shit that runs through your mind can be pretty harrowing...

Cant argue with that I don't agree with this clinging on to every second of life at any cost. Quality of life is more important than quantity, and knowing when (and having the option to, legally) end things should be a major, central tenet in our list of human rights. But in steps religion with its "sanctity of life" bollocks and the endless suffering begins.

Let's lighten things up a bit with a clip of the [original] Moonwalk!

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GRByZlHS6GE

The move is near the end of the clip.

Hahaha, I know. Who the FUCK would do that? If she was fisting herself while eating less, then okay - I can see the purpose of taking a photograph. However, she is not.

Pfff, that guy is weak. Check out this video of the incredible Rahzel. He fucking blows my mind when he starts to sing while doing the beats. A little after 35 seconds when he starts to sing/beat Iron Mine is so fucking awesome. And the Mortal Kombat run after that is tits.

The funny thing is, that bird could probably produce those sounds if it wanted to. If it can do a chainsaw and a motorised camera it could probably manage a fairly convincing slap bass riff!

Haha reminds me of a joke:

Why are 50p coins shaped that way? So you can use a spanner to get 'em off a Scot

Just reminded myself of another:

Do you know how copper wire was invented? Turns out it was two Scottish guys fighting over a penny.

Haha I can slag the Scots off, my uncle is Scottish, plus being Irish I'm effectively of the same gene pool. Nothing a little chlorine couldn't fix.

Haha, great jokes I can't say I have any excuse telling these jokes, being from Canada and all, but I'm from the gene pool too I suppose, as my father and his family were originally from Wales. The way I understand it is that the Irish, Scottish, Manx and Welsh all came from the same group of people originally, and the Cornish too I think? Not really sure about the last one. Anyways, here are some good Taffy jokes :

A man moves to a village in Wales and gets talking to an old man from the village.
He asks the old man what his name is, but the old man gets very irate at this point and says:
- See that line of houses over there? I built them all, but do they call me Jones the house builder? Do they hell!
- See those railway lines over there? I laid them all, but do they call me Jones the engineer? Do they hell!
- See those bridges over that river? I built them all, but do they call me Jones the bridge builder? Do they hell!
- But, a long long time ago, I fucked ONE sheep...

An English politician was giving a speech in Aberystwyth. He said: “I was born an Englishman. I have been an Englishman all my life, and I will die an Englishman!”

“What’s wrong, boyo?” shouted a voice from the crowd. “Got no ambition, have you?”

A small airplane was flying across the Atlantic. It was carrying four passengers, a Welshman, a Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman. Suddenly the pilot announced,

“The engine caught fire. You will have to get parachutes from the storage cabinet and jump out!”

The Irishman grabbed a parachute, shouted, “God bless Ireland” and jumped out. Then the Scotsman strapped on a parachute, shouted, “Scotland the brave” and jumped out. Then the Welshman shouted, “Long live Wales” and threw the Englishman out.

713 dead as of the date of that video. Fuck.

Yep. And to think that the government told people the air was safe to breathe and there was "nothing to worry about". Gotta love those stars and stripes

Yeah, the EPA's original report was going to warn people to wear protective gear and that the air's alkalinity was the equivalent of that found in drain cleaner, not to mention the fact that the WTC Towers were loaded with Asbestos, but the Whitehouse told them to change the report to make it less "alarming". In reality they wanted Wall Street open again. So, 713 (and counting) people had to die for the sake of a couple of months' worth of the stock market's operation. And to add insult to injury (literally), the Whitehouse won't help the first responders with their illnesses. I think they cover maybe a few months of treatment, then they just cut 'em loose. Shameful.

This probably won't mean much to anyone outside of N. Ireland, but here's a wee trip down memory lane which gave me goosebumps!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0wLCNvX5w4

It's an anti-terrorism commercial which was broadcast in the early 90's. It was shown several times a day, pre-watershed, for what seemed like the better part of a year. There were other ads created around the same time, but I can't find any of those. I distinctly remember one starring Perry Fenwick, who plays Billy Mitchell in the British soap opera "Eastenders". It shows him sitting in a bar, drinking a pint, with a very serious look of contemplation on his face. He then becomes an informant for the British military haha.

Pure propaganda, but I loved these ads when I was a kid. They were also a little terrifying, because I remember several situations when I was with my dad and it seemed like one or two of the scenarios in these ads were about to become reality!

Luckily it wasn't that bad where I live, the main problems we had here were drug dealers murdering each other, but I'm just outside of Belfast and I'd be up there at least once a week. There was a kid murdered a few hundred yards from my house by loyalists though, you can read about him here if you're interested:

http://www.ciarancummings.com/

He was a year above me in high school, didn't really know him very well but most of the other guys in my class did. There used to be flowers and a hand-made plaque and such where he was shot, but the locals had a habit of setting fire to it, so the family just stopped replacing it. Another lovely chap spray-painted this in the town:

http://www.ciarancummings.com/images/lough2.jpg

His grave was desecrated several times, too. It's not enough to be killed, your family has to be tormented too, it seems. This is pretty much standard operating procedure here. Thankfully things are infinitely better these days.

My dad is originally from Belfast (the infamous Falls Road) and he has a few stories about his days working as a first-aid medic in the 70's at the height of the violence. One I can share with you is that he was regularly accosted by the local IRA to accompany them so that he could administer first-aid to people they'd be kneecapping. You don't really have much say in the matter when 4 or 5 armed men knock on the door hahaha. My mum is from Belfast too, but from a staunchly loyalist area, and she has stories of her own. Oh yeah, my folks have a real cross-community romance!

A wonderful little sociological/psychological experiment. Environmentalists apparently just enjoy attending gatherings and sounding important. Who'd have thunk it?!

I lived in Shankill road for a few months. Since I'm from well known catholic country it was quite thrilling sometimes. But during this time I met Gerry Kelly and other people in Ira and Sinn Fein, thanks to a friend from work. What's the situation now in Belfast?? You don't hear much about it in place I live
BTW I even got this t-shirt - "Still an inrepentant fienian bastard" hehe.

Haha shit man, you're braver than most of the natives here! The situation is much better now. The worst you're likely to get these days is a severe beating, which is a damn sight better than a bullet in the head!

Hahaha I hope you weren't wearing that shirt when you lived on the Shankill! These guys are one reason why that'd be a pretty bad idea:

Did you enjoy your time here? Or were you glad to get back to Poland? If you were to come back here you'd probably enjoy it more, because there has been a growing community of Polish people in N. Ireland for the past several years. Even the supermarkets have Polish sections now!

I really enjoyed it. I wasn't prepared for what i saw there but it's ok I like suprises. When I saw police cars (this little tanks u have hehe) I knew that something is not right hheheheheh. I look like a Mexican more than a Pole so I had no problems unlike my friends xD Once i was going home from Orby's Link(or something like that) past midnight, but it was quite warm so i decided to walk to home. When I reached city centre I took taxi and THAT WAS GOOD THING Dude, lots lots of b&h and c18 guys on the street hehe. Which was quite suprising considering loyalists attitude towards Jews.
Belfast at friday night looks really good. Party party party Remember that Sarcofago song "Black Vomit"? That what happened to me after bottle of vodka and 5-6 Guinness glasses heheheh. Never again, this beer is so heavy it stays at the bottom of stomach.
I got really good guides I've been to all imortant places such as RPG Avenue I was in this Sinn Fein pub/museum I can't remember it's name. Guns on the walls etc.
BTW I loved these boobies hehehe almost all girls where busty. If they exercise more, it would be paradise xD

RPG Avenue!! I haven't been up there in years. I usually go past it when I'm going to the hospital or visiting relatives, looks quite unimpressive until you hear how it got its name!

LOL yeah, those little tanks are Paddy Wagons (aptly named!). There are also armoured "pigs" with gun turrets on them and such. Lots o' fun!

I can't say much for the Belfast night-life, because I'm rarely there at night. Same goes for the big-breasted lassies! And yes, if they gave up their staple diet of chips and WKD they'd probably look a little better

There's a fairly strong presence of racist cocksuckers here, and I'm saddened to say that it's predominately coming from one side of the community, so not much has changed in that respect since you were here. Racist violence is reported in the news every couple of weeks. When sectarianism starts to die down something else has to fill the gap in these wankers' lives, it seems. It is quite funny how loyalist paramilitaries fly the Israeli flag to show solidarity with the Israelis, but they'd undoubtedly take great pleasure in serving out beatings if they showed up here.

I don't drink, but I'm well aware of the Guinness "morning after shits" haha.

How did you find our accent? I can barely understand most of the people from the depths of Belfast myself!

I had problems for about a week and after that it was ok. I noticed that accent differed depending on part of the city. It was strange to see people talking in a completely different way but living so close to each other. I had some problems understanding youngsters, sometimes I was wondering if they're still speaking english hehe. The funniest thing about that was one gril from Shankill (she worked in Tesco near Woodvale Park) who spoke in a way that Vicky Pollard from Little Britain did.
BTW Correct my english please it helps me improve my writing

Yeah, the accents will be completely different if you just walk for 10 minutes in any direction haha.

Your English is dead on! Your language skills surpass those of my fellow Little Britain characters, so that's something!

Yeah I always found it strange how the UK has many different regional accents even in the smallest cities and towns. It's not really like that in North America. People all sound the same in my city. Hell, they even sound the same in a city 300 miles away from here I can only notice a difference in dialect when I talk to someone from a few provinces away.

Apparently us Southern Californians have a pretty recognizable accent but I can't hear it. The only way I can sometimes get an idea of what part the state a person is from is by the 'slang' they use but thats not really a sure way.

It depends, sometimes dialect is easier to detect than an accent, but sometimes it works the other way around too.

I remember meeting an old musician hippie dude in a pub here a few years back.
As soon as he started talking to me I immediately knew he wasn't from anywhere around here. I eventually asked him where he was from and he told me he had come all the way here from Santa Barbara to check out B.C. (He was considering moving here.)

Point being, there is a big difference in dialect/accent when you're not used to hearing people from a certain region of the world. According to the city distance tool, Santa Barbara is about 1300 miles away from where I live Maybe you're just used to hearing people from Southern California?

Oh, yeah that's absolutely why. I understand why I don't really hear it, I just wish I could more.

This will probably sound ridiculous, but in Northern Ireland you can detect someone's religion, and therefore their [probable] political leanings, by the way they pronounce certain words. Even people from adjoining neighbourhoods - if one is Catholic and the other Protestant - will possess these distinctions. The most obvious one is how people pronounce H. Protestants invariably pronounce it as "aitch", dropping the H sound, and Catholics pronounce it "haitch", stressing the H sound. It's to do with the segregationist education system here (which is still as strong as ever), and is present in other areas of the UK, but in those cases it's more to do with class than anything else.

I'm not sure if the H thing alone earned anyone an untimely death haha, I can't imagine someone getting half way through a recitation of the alphabet before getting bundled into a car and driven to a field, but a combination of various speech-related differences probably revealed someone to be one thing or the other.

Geography played a major part in how people chose their victims here, too. Which street you were walking towards, or walking from, or crossing, would reveal which religion you were (although a lot of the time the victims turned out to be the opposite of what the killers assumed). That alone would be enough justification for a murder. It's like tribal, gangland territorial divisions. It goes on to this day, and will probably continue for another hundred years! Probably best to keep that in mind if you're ever planning to pay N. Ireland a visit

I keep forgetting this thread is supposed to be for YouTube vids haha, here's one showing a guy eating 22 live scorpions for a world record attempt:

Haha. That would be sad... maybe slightly funny in some ways, but still sad.

"Umm, ok. E, F, G, H..."

And so began the Northern Irish Troubles. I think the same thing happened in Palestine. Plus I once headbutted a guy for saying "Chicargo" instead of "Chicago" - the violent legacy lives on!

Haha

Over here we say "aitch" without stressing the H sound. So do you think I'd get a boot rammed up my arse by a group of Catholics if I went there?

lol really? The old Glasgow Kiss is a very effective technique though. I remember in grade 7 this really big kid had me backed into a corner... *BANG* he didn't know what fucking hit him.

lol what the hell is The Glasgow Smile?

and lulz to the latter comment
I'd like to go to Ireland someday, not sure when though. Wales is my first priority, but even if I did go to Wales I'm sure I could go to Ireland for a day or two as well eh? wouldn't take too long to get there. But... would I be more welcome in the North or South? I'm not part of any organized religion if that makes any difference. I'm more or less agnostic/don't give a shit haha.

A Glasgow Smile is when you put a knife in someone's mouth, and cut from the edge of the mouth towards the ears, through the cheeks, giving you the biggest smile you've ever had. The actor Tommy Flanagan (you'll know him when you see him) had it done to him. And if you've ever watched The Krays there's a scene in that film where it happens. I think the Joker from Batman is supposed to have had one, too. Oh, and the guy from Ichi the Killer has one. It's quite a popular look, apparently!

I don't think it matters which end of Ireland you visit, you'll be safe enough (well, safe from terrorism anyway!). A flight from mainland UK to Ireland can cost as little as Ł10 sometimes, so it shouldn't be a problem for you to nip over for a day or two

In the old days, saying "I'm an atheist" would get the response "Yeah, but are you a Catholic atheist or a Protestant atheist?" such was the level of the hatred haha. I'm an atheist, but being called Paddy and living in the street that I live in means I'll never be free from suspicion! It's the same if you're called Billy and live on the Shankill haha.

I remeber one joke huys from Shankill told me:
Guy is walking downe the street in Belfast when suddenly he feels a gun put to his head.
- Are You a Catholic or Protestant - he hears from behind.
- Well I'm a Jew - man responded hoping to avoid any problems.
- Then I must be the luckiest arab in Belfast!

Hahaha

There's a standup comedian in the UK called Lee Mack, and he has a joke he does when he's in Northern Ireland:

How many Catholics does it take to change a lightbulb? Just one, 'cause they're brilliant. But how many Protestants does it take to change a lightbulb? Just one, 'cause they're brilliant as well. Please don't hurt me!

Of course when he does it it's funny

Haha this is like those guys who spend their entire lives learning to juggle 40 balls at once. An amazing feat of hand-eye coordination, not to mention the dedication and commitment involved, but I can't even pretend to give half a rotten fuck.

I have the same problem with virtuoso guitarists. It's not art, it's a freak show. After the initial "wow", I rapidly get a headache and have to lie down. I can't listen to more than 3 or 4 minutes of Vai or Malmsteen, it just hurts my brain, and every solo starts to sound suspiciously like the last.

A waste of a perfectly good life. What I hate the most is the response I get from people who love that shit, it's usually "you're jealous" or "you could never do that!" I could never do 30 back flips along a burning tight-rope either, does that make the act any more worth while? Does it exempt me from having an opinion of it?

No, is the answer you're looking for.

Haha I know what you mean, I do have a few tracks of Vai and Malmsteen and Satch in my MP3 collection - the very definition of "it's ok, in small doses"

I agree. I used to have a tremendous amount of respect for players like Michael Batio and Yngwie Malmsteen... until I realized that it all just sounds the same. That, and it has NO FUCKING FEEL. Sure, they might be able to shred and sweep arpeggios at 440-bpm, but there is no emotion or feel in that kind of music. It just sounds like robotic 1980's video game music

Obviously, most of the people that learn to play like this just do it for the attention and pie (fanny).
