Tightening whammy bar swing on Ibanez trems?
I want to tighten the bar swing on my old Ibby UV7BK, it has an edge pro 7 trem I believe, with the push-in style bar like this: http://www.oliver-pfaender.de/downl...jem-tremolo.jpg
How do I do this?
I opened the spring compartment in the back and noticed that there is a ribbed shaft into which the whammy bar's tip is supposed to be slipped into. At the end of the shaft their is a screw. View it here:

I originally thought tightening it would solve the problem but it didn't, because the actual shaft itself jolts around in a circular motion when I move the whammy bar a lot. What can I do to stop this shaft from moving and staying stationary so the whammy bar feels a lot more firm? I think there is a nut at the bottom of the shaft but I can't reach it unless I take off all the strings and take the bridge out, and I don't think it adjusts anything.
Also I'm getting some buzzing from underneath my tone and volume knobs, should I take out the pickguard and stick some napkins in there to stop em from vibrating when I play or is there a better solution?
I'm getting the same thing too with the trem springs in one of my other guitars, on certain notes they rattle like hell, I hear that sticking some napkins in the spring cavity solves this? How exactly should I place them, and will it take away any sustain?

Hey Soeru,
This article and this article from www.jemsite.com should probably help you out with the whammy problems.

About the buzzing from the knobs, I can't think of any better solution than the napkin one, but I know how to fix the other problem you have with the buzzing/overactive trem springs. My Ibanez RG570 had this very problem and I fixed it by just padding up some cotton balls right on the trem springs and putting the trem cover back on. It doesn't kill any sustain and now I can finally palm mute power chords without hearing extraneous ghost notes.
Hope this helps you out man!

the bar has 2 plastic collars on it, you have to replace them.

Thanks Sycophant, the 2nd page you posted was exactly what I needed. Guess I need one of those long shaft well wrenches.
