How exactly would u play this riff with the x's?

they are octaves depending on the speed of the riff you can either pick the bottom note with the pick and the top with a finger. or for faster stuff just pick through the whole thing but the x is a dead note. mute it with your index finger.

Put your index finger on the bottom note, and curl your index finger so it's just touching the string above it at the same time (the x'd string), then use your 3rd finger to play the higher note.
