KMD AMPS
Ok i went to myrtle beach a little while ago to some music shops and dropped by a pawn shop. When i got into the pawn shop the guy had some old ass KMD 100 watt amp in there, thing look like it had been through ruff times. So luckly i had a trusty axe in the car and decided to play it. Lord and behold the piece of shit played like a charm. Beautiful fucking distortion actually amazing considering this amp has to be it least 7-8 years old at the least. Does anyone know anything about these amps? The guy want 164$ for it and want move off the price one bit, this thing to me would make a great practice amp i just dont want to get screwed in the process.

Well, in my opinion you can't really lose if it's only $164 and if you like it. Hell, go for it, why not?

first question (for interests sake) Tube or no...
second question, does it REALLY kick ass?
third question, does it kick 164$ worth of ass? maybe more? If so, buy that shit.
hell, if it was tube, i'd buy it without question. Tube amps are easily modded

Bleeding heres the thing its nice and all but i mean i don't want to fork out 164 for something i could possibly find online for 30 bucks. This amp on ebay that im going to bid on in the last few minutes of its auction is about the same model.

I'm gonna buy that just in case i need parts or some shit if i do decide to buy the amp. I mean the amp i saw at the pawn shop was not without problems the Clean channel did not work, which lead me to think either some nigger rigging has went on with the amp or channel 1 is fried. He told me he would get his electronics guy to look at it Monday, which pretty much made me laugh considering his electronic guy is some dude who makes 6.50 an hour, doesn't know shit about electronics except he can take the box off a VCR. In all honesty i wouldn't be the least surprise if the amp pretty much kills him from his lack of knowledge about stored voltage inside the thing.
About the whole is it tube or not, honestly i don't know man. It doesn't say anywhere and I've tried looking into the back of the box and can't see crap. So i may just have to ask the guy if i go back to let me look up in it, but really have any of you guys ever played one?

KMD made amps that were solid state, hybrids, and tube. I've played them all and they sound pretty good. Their solid state amps have a killer Marshall crunch for classic rock. Bon Jovi played the tube amps in the 80's. Most of them came with Celestion speakers.

humm interesting considering ive heard of celestion speakers and how bad people want them...Heard the speakers alone for two 10's or two 12's can possibly go around 100 and up...

brand new celestions, a single 12" costs you 130$ minimum. If you get a blue (15 watt i think) it will be around 200. If you get a gold (high wattage blue, 60 watts?) it will cost you around 300 and up. Mind you, most of their price is attributed to hype, eminence makes some badass speakers for a fraction of the price of celestions.

I'm talking about old school celestions, if that makes any difference, but bleeding what do you think? i mean channel 1 is fried, guy claims to be fixing it but i doubt it i honestly belive he just wanted me off his case...Maybe ill just buy this amp online this "KMD" which has 9 minutes left in auction and put some eminence speakers in it(i belive the speakers are blown in it), but if you ever get the chance to play a KMD i would try it out.

Hey, I came by one of these amp heads on Ebay yesterday by pure chance. It was 100 Watts, clean, and working. It was a lot sale with other gear if I remember, but it was damn cheap.
If you like it then buy it. Fuck brand name.

Looks like a KMD GV100. Solid state preamp and tube power amp. One of my local customers used to use one of those with a Boss Metal Zone and nail Pantera tones.
