i have heard lot of you guys say that blackmetal sucks ass while death metal rules well i was wondering(and dont go bashing me cause i dont know) but what the hell is the difference between the two genres??

I'm not gonna sit her and define the difference between black and death metal for you. I will leave that up to you to decide. Alot of people(not just people on this board and not everyone) that listen to extreme music have a distaste for stuff they usually don't listen to. IMO it basically comes down to the my death metal is better than your black metal. Or in simpler terms my dick is bigger than yours. There are some that are neutral and choose to stay out of this bickering among genre's. I do listen to black metal and I will admit some of it is just laughable. While I find some death metal inaudable. Hope I spelled that right. Oh well the point is shut the fuck up and have a beer.

I'd say look at the various black and death metal threads here in bands, download some stuff, and see for yourself.

Me personally, I only listen to one Black Metal band, Dimmu Borgir, and one Death Metal band, Morbid Angel. I've heard other bands of both genres and can't stand hardly any of them...

Yeah I do think SOME death metal has shitty production. I own an Ulver album that has the shittiest production I have ever heard. That and the Emperor and Enslaved spilt EP. So yes I agree blackmetal does have some shitty production. I tend to stay away from bands like that.

No offence but you guys are a bunch of idiots, it doesn't matter what is better black or death because now and days most bands have to many influences from other sub-gebres of metal to call them just black or just death. Take a band such as mystic circle in most cases there just black metal but in other cases the have a lot of death influences, or there are bands like the crown who are mostly death metal but fo have numerous black influences. Then there is nocturnal rites not that heavy and they have a clen singer and they have been called death metal

Dude, well-played is very much opinion. Just because they're technically proficient does NOT mean it's well-played. If it sounds like shit, to me, there's no WAY I could think it's well-played. And sometimes they're not even technically proficient.

No, I've heard pretty much all of it. Every band that's been strongly recommended to me, that is. And, while I'll admit that many are damn technically proficient, I am simply not a fan and find that the proficiency is wasted on what they play, making it, in my eyes, not well-played.

ok what get to me is that death metal gets redundant. I like black because not all the songs sound similar. Every Black metal band has a different style (Expeshally the bigger ones, Burzum, Darkthrone, Dimmu borgir, Dissection, Emperor, Satyricon ect...) All of them being black metal yet all having their own style...Black metal you dont know what your gonna get next (when finding a new band) Could be some shitty band with low fi productions or could be fucking awesome. I do have alot of respect for death metal (i like it too) both of them FUCKING rule. Metal heads must unite and kill them other music types....
