EDIT: I'm editing my post on account of everyone making fun of me for my cryptopsy comparison

I wouldn't compare them to Cryptopsy... But they are brutal with plenty of time signature changes. Maybe Disgorge (US) would be a more realistic comparison?

Yeah, that would be better....I'm really not sure why I used Cryptopsy, I guess because both bands have very crazy riffs....I was actully gonna compare them to Guttural Secrete but I was unsure whether JOAM would be familiar with that band.

Sounds a lot like Decrepit Birth, Deeds of Flesh, Disgorge and stuff from what I've heard so far. So yeah West Coast style brutal DM. Not bad at all.

Total headspin, seems to be one of the big favorites for the RoG crew. I think sometimes some of the parts sound like they were made with a random riff generator but all in all one of the best (I hate to use this word) "technical" brutal DM bands. They just put out a new album too.

Their new album is incredible, and yeah their riffs are really fucking crazy but there's a grooviness to much of it at the same time.

Yeah, Decrepit Birth is a good comparison - only Defeated Sanity are more technical.

He is old. He was a jazz guitar player before he started playing DM, he just wanted to challenge the hell out of himself.

ive seen defeated sanity, and they played a fucking brutal show, the younger guitarist has some uber robotically fast playing, it was a good show.
i think i definatly wouldn't compare them to cryptopsy atall, i would compare them to decrepit brith.
good band, if mindless brutality and low guttral vocals is your thing then get into them.

There's barely a single intelligent response in this thread so far. Defeated Sanity is not like Cryptopsy, or Decrepit Birth at all. They're on a similar brutality level as Disgorge, but their riffing is more like Suffocation's, well at least on their new album (Psalms Of The Moribund). However if you looked into the music deeply enough, you'd realise there is a wonderful mixture of brutality, crazy time signatures, dark as fuck atmosphere and simple all round heaviness. There is also a shitload of jazz and classical influences on this album, both in the guitaring and the drumming. Not to mention Lille Grueber is one of the most creative drummers in the entire death metal scene.
Both their albums are incredible, but the latest one, Psalms Of The Moribund, is just unbelievable. Easily the best Brutal DM album since Consume The Forsaken, and in my eyes probably even better (and that's saying something). Absolutely crushing production as well, none of that lifeless robotic production bullshit you'll find with many newer death metal albums these days.

No idea dude. The server that hosts the forum we have know appears to be fucked. It could return any day or it might not at all, I dunno. Regardless we're working on a new forum right now that'll be on our own server.

Very enjoyable band.
I like Psalms much more than older stuff, I could just never get into it.
Cloaca, you hit the nail right on the head, but IMO Consume The Forsaken is still better.
