Which Neutrik Ends To Get?

I'm need some new cables so I'm going to get some Mogami 2524 instrument cable. I'm also going to get some Neutrik ends as recommended by a few people here, namely xdx, in these threads here and here.

I don't have a clue about the different types of ends though and don't know which Neutriks to get. I went to the "connectors" section at Redco.com and they have TRS, TS, and TT connectors. What's the difference between these. Which one should I get for instrument cable? Which ones do you guys use?

Thanks for all help.

tt and trs are stereo cable heads. You dont need them. If you do figure out a reason you'd ever need a stereo guitar cable, then go for it, but other than that, stick with the TS. Amps only have mono inputs anyway.

no prob man, just look at the tips. If theres 2 striped part, its mono, if theres 2, its stereo. Compare the number of metal parts on a headphone jack to a guitar jack, you'll see what i mean. (the stripes shoudl be green, black, or white)

Oh, and does anyone know what they're talking about on the Mogami cable when they say:

"Most musical instrument sound pick-ups such as those in electric guitars are comprised of high impedance circuits driven by voltage, in other words by very small electrical current flow. Therefore, so-called MICROPHONICS (noise) becomes a critical problem. (Microphonics means noise that is generated when the cable is moved and or tapped when the cabling circuit is a high impedance link.) Guitar cables must be counter-measured against this, so, a conductive PVC layer is placed under the shield conductor in most cases even though it may have a bad affect on audio sound quality.

Therefore, the conductive PVC (black carbon PVC) layer must be removed together with the shielding conductor when wiring, otherwise we receive a strange claim that the cable is shorting."

Do I need to strip anything back before I solder on the end?

Thanks again.

Nevermind, I see now. There is a layer of conductive pvc over top of the main wire which has to be stripped back away from the plug. Sounds a bit obvious to me... Here's the link that spelled it out with pictures for me.

Isn't that link wrong? You need to actually strip off the black PVC, as far as i can see the black PVC is still completely covering the transparent layer of insulation, defeating the anti-microphonic function.

I think that if you get a TRS it will still work with a guitar. Don't they connect the sleave and the ring inside the guitar?

Eh.. anyway. yeah. Get the TS. TT are too small.

Check this thread for more info. So far it's all about speaker, insrumnent, and cab wiring.

Good stuff Soulinsane. That thread had all the info I need and this picture helped me see what I have to strip back, as opposed to the pictures on this link I posted that shows it stripped wrong.

Like Jopop said, the black pvc layer has to be stripped back away from the clear insulation. It's all clear to me now.

Thanks everyone for the help. I appreciate it.
