Sovtek MIGs?
what's everybody's take on these little beasts? Can they pull off gritty stoner riffing? (think: the sword almost) I'm lookin around for something that has more gritty crunch than my marshall, and that i can essentially throw around and possibly even mod later. And for those who have actually tried one, hows the bass response?

I've never played one, but I did hear one once at a local show. I don't know if it was modded but it sounded sweet. I know they're tubers so if you can buy one cheap go for it. I would.

I had a Voodoo modded Mig 100 for a while. If it werent for being single channel and having no fx loop, I might not have let it go.
Stock ones can pull off some fairly heavy sounds... think pushed marshall/hiwatt tone. good for sludge/stoner stuff. decent for metal. They go for pretty good prices too.

I had a mig50, but traded it for a JCM900.... worst decision i ever made- the tone was brilliant, and it would have made a cool poweramp too! I'm gonna get another at some point though.

that is a badass setup.
About the 50 though, did you find it more like a fender bassman or more like a jcm 800? I heard the 50's are like bassmans and so i have some fears that they wont have the crunch that i want... i dont really care about cleans, i'm just lookin for gritty distortion.

I found it to have a great clean... i can't speak for what it's like cranked, but at low volumes (bedroom level), i had to have my Rat infront of it. Get one though!
