Hey Panterica.. did you buy those pickups? Because I was just thinking about buying them and putting them in my strat copy.. switching from a triple coil to a twin hum setup..

no i have not purchased them yet. i am getting an 81 for the bridge and an 85 for the neck.

that sounds like quite the conversion! a triple single to a dual humbucker!!! wow. where did you get that idea? sounds quite crazy.

but i would really like to know what the difference between the voltage options is. anyone with any info on the EMG's, please post it............... or i'll cut your nuts off and feed them to my cat!

Yeah it is pretty crazy.. but they do sell a few strat copies that come with 2 humbuckers and a single.. so I figured it can't be that far a stretch.. and if I had the info for you I'd post it but I don't.. heh sorry.. I just wanted to know if you had them in your guitar yet and heard them.. I have no clue what the 81 and 85 sound like at this point..

It says in the manual that you can run them both off the same battery.(9v)

If you run them in series, you might burn up your pickups. E-mail EMG & ask.
You'll probaly just waist $ on batteries.

well, i did find out. if anyone else is wondering, here's what a wiser man than me once said

"Here's the deal. You can in fact wire your pickups with 18 V electronics (2 9V bateries). I have a bass that I wired (EMG pickups) with an 18V preamp. The only reason for this is slightly higher output and more headroom for low frequencies (the reason I wired my bass with 18V). There's no point in doing 27, 18 is fine. I wouldn't recommend 18 volt circuitry in a guitar, though. 9 is perfectly fine. The reason I wired my bass for 18V is for more low frequency headroom and to power 2 pickups (a P and a J, EMG actually recommends 18V for a PJ setup in bass). Wire em with 9, you'll be happy with the results. Both guitarists in my band have guitars with 9V EMG wirings. They sound incredible. I don't do wirings in guitar, however, but I would highly recommend you stick with 9V. Hope this helps. Peace"

and there you have it.
