pickups

i tried searching for a fourm and couldnt find anything so i decided to make a post..
i have a epi les paul copy and i mainly play thrash and death metal.. usualy alot of harmonics and such.. think necrophagist.
anyway...
as of now im playing on a cube through a pedal.. i have a pretty decent tone..
i cant decide what p-ups to upgrade to.. im thinking maybe:
Jazz/Invader

but ive been reading in the last half hour that the X2N's are good also????
which p-ups would suit me? im trying to stay away from emgs so def. not those.

im also thinking of perhaps a set of EVO's?

anyways... invader is muddy as hell, and doesnt have as much gain as you'd think. i'd say get an X2N or one of those dimarzio d-activators or whatever they are. Necrophagist uses them don't they?

What? The leads are fucking amazing. Rhythm tone is thin, middy, tiring and boring.
Please define "grit".

like... the crunchy part in the distortion. That snappy gritty crunchy stuff goin on. Mastodon has amazing grit on their Remission album. Electric Wizard's dopethrone also has crazy grit.

Basically, its what distortion has, and what fuzz doesnt have. Fuzz is more... fuzzy, smooth, creamy... distortion is crunchy gritty. You know what i mean... its just so hard to describe sounds hahahaha.

Ah i get it! Totally agree about NP not having "grit". Sounds like they scooped out all the cool sounding mids and left the crappy ones in
