ESP standard series?

if this should have gone into one of the stickys then delete it,
but i was just checking over some of the esp standard series on the website and i found the ESP M-II (the one with the maple fretboard) and it pretty much completely is the sort of thing i want to get next guitar-wise.

the only problem is that i dont know how good esps are, i always thought of them as being a kind of jackson ripp off, but i dont know, how do they play? are they decent build quality? the thing is i see ibanez, jackson etc all over the place within the death metal world, but i never realy see anyone playing esps, i know muhamed used to play one but he said he hated it in an interview lol.

anyone had any experience with the M-II with the maple fretboard? or just esps in general?

thanks alot in advance

esp shits all over most companies
they have amazing attention to detail, their guitars play great and of course, they come with great features and hardware.

but just like any other company, try before you buy

btw, the guitar that mo was playing, was an LTD. thats like the esp version of epiphone.
theres LTD then ESP
just like EPIPHONE then GIBSON

imo, generally esp is on the same level as ibanez, probably quite a bit better. however, the j-custom line of ibanez and the esp custom line are equal. theyre as good as each other.

i have never played the M-II, but i think it may sound quite thin. maple board, maple neck, alder body. you may want to get the rosewood version. but if your cool with the thin-ness, then by all means, get the maple one.

ESP are great. Some LTDs are too, but obviously have nothing on ESP.

Just check the neck thickness, to make sure you like it. They tend to be slightly thicker than some other makes. (certainly Ibanez)

if you dont like alder (like me) then you prob wont be able to find an ideal jackson. the majority of superstrat jacksons use alder. ibanez have a few mahogany models though.

Man this sucks! all the guitars i want and that fit my criteria arent mahogany!
the jackson rr24 is alder! the ibanez RG2610E is basswood! and the esp is alder aswell.

i would just realy like my next guitar to be mahogany.

can anyone suggest an awesome mahogany bodied guitar for about £800 or i guess $1600 dollars? i dont mind what, im open to suggestions

hmm, if i went ibanez id have to have an RG, i was thinking of ordering a jackson stars from japan, they have LOADS of customizable options, for example, choice of pickups and choice of fixed, kahler, or floyd rose. also you can get most woods with them aswell. its just on www.jacksonstars.com it doenst tell you how to order, and id be kinda worried about getting it ordered to the uk.

jackson stars are official jacksons produced solely in japan and handmade, i dont realy get the deal with them but ive heard that some of the top range ones are as good as USA jacksons, also the fact of how many options they have attracts me to them.

That's because the top range ones cost just as much as the USA ones. Unless you live in Japan, you're gonna get raped even more w/ the shipping charges. Don't think that just getting a mahogany ESP would make it sound thick. That's what my Eclipse was, and it was a realy thin, weak tone.
