cracked neck binding
this shit is bad news. when i was wiping my rg down i noticed that on about 8 of the frets there's small cracks where the fret meets the binding. anyone else had a problem like this? i sent an email out to ibanez but i'm sure they'll want it sent in. i can't live without a guitar for that long so im considering buying another wizard II on ebay. since it's just an 370dx i'm guessing a nicer model will have better build quality so i might just end up buying something new.

meh. i wouldnt worry to be completely honest, i mean its kinda known with ibanez models that the necks crack between the two bolts near the headstock and that doesnt stop people from playing them, im sure your issue is almost completely cosmetic, and i doubt ibanez will do much.

this happends alot to bound fretboards.
what (usually) happends is, either the wood of the neck shrinks or expands(?) due to weather changes (read moist % in the air). this causes the frets to sortof stick out of the wood a little, wich push the binding off the fretboard.
also has to do with the way the bneckblank was sawn, flatsawn neck wil shrink and expand in thw width (wich causes fretends to stick out) and quartersawn enck shrink/expand the other way (kinda asif the neck would become thicker or thinner)
or they just didnt glue the binding in properly.. see if you can push the binding back in place.. if so just put some turbo/super glue in the crack and press it in place, you can hold it in place with some strong tape.
EDIT!!! ibanez probaly wont do shit about it, if they do, let me know so i can be surprised

i didn't think it was worth starting a new thread over so i'll ask in here. does anyone know where i can buy ibanez necks online? i mean i know there's ebay but i don't feel like waiting and if i'm going to spend like $250 anyway i'd rather just buy a brand new neck. the ibanez site says you can order parts but that area of their site is pretty fucked up and i can't really tell what's what. if you have any info let me know. thanks.

Yeah but ive seen quite a few pics of ibanez guitars with cracks between the bolts, maybe i should have specified a bit more with SMALL cracks, a mate of mine has a cracked neck ibanez and it doesnt stop anything, its purely cosmetic, and ive heard people say that they are playable with the cracks, maybe your case is different.

mine splits alll along the head/neck scarf joint. the only thing holding it together is the fretboard glue and the binding.

Not sure if they make any for Ibanezes, but Warmoth ( www.warmoth.com) makes replacement necks for many guitars, and they're known for being high quality.
