I have never, ever had a girl even try to change me. I have been changed by girls, but through that organic process of sharing your life with somebody. Again, I somehow doubt that this was ever going to be a case of that, but more of a case of a girl dating somebody older to boost her own ego, which explains why she'd balk as soon as she came to grips with the human details. Tough break. Then again, there is a reason you usually shouldn't date girls younger than high school age.

Some of you guys don't have a clue about why she said that. I think I do. I unlearned wanting to be the center of attraction after I got divorced. Before that I spent a lot of unhappy moments thinking I had done something wrong because my man wanted to hang out with his friends. It wasn't that he cared any less for me it was just that was his bag like mine was crafting, sewing, and the kids. I still have to check myself sometimes, but I think it's part of compromise, too.
If she liked music it might have been different and she might have wanted to go along sometimes, too. Heck, I used to go to the garage with my high school b/f when he'd work on his cars or go fishing. We didn't do everything together though.
Some women think their guy is the center of their own attention and want to spend every minute with them. It's nice to be apart and miss the other person sometimes though.
I'd love to have a guy wrapped up in my world, but we're on the same plane so that's cool enough.

XTRA: I don't think your explanation applies. I think it might in many cases, but keep in mind that this relationship lasted about 35 seconds and involved a young girl dating somebody older than her. I'd stick to my guns, saying that she did it at first just to date somebody older, and when it became a specific person she dropped out because she never had the stuff to stick in a real relationship anyway.

Last night I found out that a dude I know, who's a virgin and constantly complaining to guys about how he can't seem to lose his virginity, sacrificed a relationship with a very pretty girl who was devoted to him because, well, basically he was too self-centered to be with somebody else.
