Try the JJ E34L power tubes. much better in most Marshalls to me. BTW which Marshall are you using? The best preamp tubes in Marshalls are either JJ or my personal faves are chinese ones. They have more edge. What cab are you running? Celestion Vintage 30 speakers are the best match for these amps IMO. What tone are you looking for? What style?

Ok that helps a lot, thanks. Well let me give you a basic rundown on what those bands use, to the best of my knowledge:
Slayer
Marshall JCM800 vertical input 2203 100-watt heads with a Boss rackmount graphic eq as boost for more gain. 6550 power tubes in those
Metallica
first two albums were a Marshall JMP MKII 100-watt head with 6550 power tubes as well, with an Ibanez Tubescreamer as a boost for more gain. Later stuff was a Mesa/Boogie MKIIC+ head slaved into Marshall 2203's and a lot of stupid rack shit for more tones.
Trivium
Far as I know they use primarily Marshalls too. I think they have the rack setup with that 100-watt EL34 power amp and the JMP-1 preamp, and they have/continue to use DSL 100's too as far as I can remember.
Deicide
The old stuff I think was Marshall 2203's with an overdrive pedal as a boost and EXTREMELY cut mids. Later they used a Boss processor of some kind with the same amps. They have sort of a Metal Zone pedal sound which I hate, so don't know much about them really.
Your amp is cool. Those have a lot of options and have more gain than almost any Marshall out there, but tighter IMO. You really need a better cab. This will improve the tone immensely. the very best cabs to use with Marshalls to me are the Mesa Rectifier cabs. Very bassy but tight, and they lop off the nasty highs the Marshalls have. BUT those are expensive, so try to get an Avatar cab with the aforementioned V30 speakers. Go here:
AVATAR

Nah don't do that, the Avatar cab is a lot better than the Marshall one you have. The cab alone helps with your tone, better woods and solid construction.

ok. thanks.
but i always thought slanted cabs where better for the sound cuz it would spread it out and the avatar cabs are straight and arent slanted.
is there a big difference?

The vintage ones have a slanted baffle board, it looks straight on the outside but the board that the speakers are mounted to is angled slightly upwards.
