TC G-Major, a wise purchase?
Hey everyone. Haven't been here for a while.
My question: how does G-Major compare to something like the GT-8 at what it does (meaning I'm not concerned about the extra features and function as a preamp that the GT-8 has)? Specifically, how do you rate it's compressor, chorus, reverb, pitchshifter and EQ?
As a sidenote, is the new Zoom G9 a POS as anything else that Zoom has come up with?

The G-Major is miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles ahead of any of the boss pedals. I mean cmon the price alone should make you think that way.

Well the G-Major costs about as much as a GT-8, but you are right, they are far superior.

Gmajor is nice but the GT-8 compares very closely. Sorry guys, I really support the GT-8. Its even better than the GT-pro.

Thanks everyone, but could you be a little more specific? Like perhaps giving a few examples? I have only a few more days to decide. After that, the only G-Major unit available in my country will (probably) be gone.
And by the way, why is it so deserted in here? Where's xdx?

I thought you hated multiFX pedals? I find the distortion models on multiFX's to be pretty useless, but I can't comment on the actual FX on a GT8 though.

Perhaps my first post wasn't worded correctly.I don't exactly "hate" them. In fact, the more "sounds" I have available the better, due to the nature of my compositions (which demand a wide variety of sounds). But if having more fancy distortion models is going to sacrifice the quality of effects (which is my first priority), then I can live without them. In summary, I prefer a unit which does one (or a few) specific job(s) perfectly rather than something that covers a large area with mediocre/inferior quality.
My other concern is that the GT-8 is widely available in my region, but there's only one G-Major available in the whole country. So if I miss it now, I might miss it forever.
The amp I'm going to use the unit with is a TSL-100, and a Cube-30 for less serious stuff (though it doesn't have an FX Loop).
EDIT: I just noticed Soeru's post wasn't directed toward me, but you can treat this post as an addition to my first post anyway.

Haha yeah it was directed at Soulinsane, but that input is cool. Yeah, I'd get the G-major if I were you if all I needed was a few solid good FX(wouldn't get the GT-8 for distortion modeling either). I'm sure the GT-8 is great but the G-Major seems like a far more professional piece of gear.
I know of way more bands that use the G-Major than a GT8 so I suggest that.

I do actually, but the GT-8 isn't bad. It does a lot of things that other FX units can't. The most important for me is the ability to place FX both in front of the amp input and in the amp loop in any order I like. Only the GT-8 can do that using the 4cord method.

Got the G-Major, and as far as the effects go, there's not even a competition. Thanks everyone.
