Matthew Chalk (ex-psycroptic)
Does anyone know if former psycroptic vocalist Matthew Chalk is doing/has done anything music wise since psycroptic?
His vocals are incredible, I want to hear more of his stuff.

He plays (ed?) drums for the brilliant Tassie band Mephistopheles!!
www.myspace.com/mephistophelestas
Says there he's coming to full time vocals, which will be unbelievably awesome, Mephistopheles being awesome already.
Soeru: You didn't hear the difference in vocals between Sceptor of the Ancients and Symbols of Failure? Mainly that the new vocals suck and Chalky ruled on Sceptor?

I didn't know there was a different singer either. I just recently started rockin out to Psycroptic. I just thought they were going for a different sound from Scepter to Symbols. Yea yea... ignorance is no excuse. Doesn't matter, it all fuckin slays anyways.

Awesome. Thanks for the info, I'd not heard of Mephistopheles before, they sound pretty fucking good to me, I'm definately going to keep an eye (and an ear) on them.

He doesn't play drums for mepho, his taking over vocals as the band wants to make the music more technical.

Definantly. Their debut album, Ascension Aborted is available from www.southernextremeties.com or torrent sites if you're cheap. Fucking brilliant, a nice jazz influence on some songs too - what every good technical death metal band has.

Well I did notice a HUGE difference but I still thought it was the same guy. The vocals on symbols didn't suck... but I definitely preferred the ones on Scepter, not to mention it's my favorite Psy album.

Ok, Stuff Chalky has done since Psycroptic.
He formed a deathy Black Metal band called Ice Eater with him on Guitar and Vocals.
He also plays bass for Born Headless who are a Skinless like Death Metal band with an excellent drummer who plays kataklysm style hyper blasts.
He sings a few songs for Mephistopheles even though they said he was going take over all the vocals which never happened.
He plays drums and does some vocals for MSI.
He played live drums for a little while for a Doom band called The Wizar'd but doesnt anymore.
And He also plays drums, vocals and some guitar for a joke pop band called the pissweak kids. Although I dont know if they are still together or not.
Ummmm... also he played a gig or two with Jason Peppiat in a two piece DM band called Goreverk.
i THINK thats about everything.
He's a bit of a band whore down here in tassie, he's done it with a lot of different bands. A lot of people are really waiting for him to take on a "Main band" if you know what I mean, something he puts his full attention to.

I believe this is an unreleased Mephistopheles demo, with Chalk on vox and he features some clean singing too.
Its got an odd production, apparently it was recorded & produced in a really short time, but theres something I like about it, its a good track:
