Shadows Fall
i heard one of there songs. the recording wasnt that great, but they are a pretty good band. i like how that vocalist can go from a death metal growl, to a clean voice that sounds like it would be in a punk band....... this is a really great band, the only problem i have with em is when they overdub the growl over the clean voice. it can kinda ruin the sound at times, especially at the choruses. anybody else like these guys?

I own Of One Blood, its pretty rockin. I don't listen to it that often but every time I do I'm always wondering why I don't listen to it more. Kinda 80s thrash with some of the In Flames Gothenburg style.
I haven't heard the new one, The Art of Balance yet.

hey i agree shadows fall do kick some serious ass!!! But beware when buying their new album "the art of balance", it's more of progressive metal style with pretty much a tottaly different vocal style.
Although the music is the same just less of the choppy riffs and more of fast paced and fluid rythmic style, the vocals are mostly sort of low screams but not really as much growling but still not tottaly clean, while they do still throw in some agressive screams in some parts. Anyways o haven't heard the whole album but i ahve heard 4 or 5 songs and it seems a lot better then their older stuff so i do suggest investin g in it.

I got 'em both, and they both kick ass. Stepping outside the Circle reminds me of Kill 'em All era Metallica. Great Live too.

yeah, they're pretty hardcore influenced, I guess they have a big metalcore influence in general, pretty okay band though.

The Art of Balance is a pretty good cd. i've heard about 5 or 6 songs from Of One Blood and they were pretty cool too. the last track on TAoB is a cover of Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" and it really kicks ass

I got both Of One Blood and Art of Balance, for me i am mostly concerned with the guitars, and they are great on both, but this is one of the few bands where the vocalist annoys me. The growl is ok but when he tries to sing the choruses is sounds horrible. I'd be better if he stuck w/the growl or just sang.

No way!!! Pink Floyds music lends itself to be interpreted in loads of ways. And if a metalhead has interpreted it in a certain way it can be as un-hippy as possible. Mushroomhead did a version of "Empty Spaces" which in my opinion rocked.

I wonder why they sound alike....
They're from the same city dipshit. The vocalist of shadows fall and the Bassist of KE were in a very renoun HARDCORE band called Overcast here, I'm not sure who else was in it, but that explains it. Shadows Fall went more towards a metal approach while KE leaned towards shitty hardcore,

It's not being ignorant, it's not giving a fuck. How many people here are going to go research Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit? None. You know why? Because they don't like them. That's why.

Shadows Fall are a good metal band. Not a great band, but good. They're not the messiah of metal, they're not fucking saviors but just good.
Now, it gets a bit old when I hear how great they are, and at the same time it's equally tiring to hear self proclaimed "old school" and "hardcore" members of the metal community berating other people for liking this newer school of shit just because.
All of you need to fucking go outside and ride your fucking bikes. Take the training wheels off too.

The guitars are pretty great. I just think that they are wasting their talent with the vocals. The vocals suck in my opinion.
