All Fourths Tuning: eadgcf
I have been messing around with this tuning. Has anyone here tried it?
Basically all one octave chord, scale, and arpeggio shapes can be played the same way on any set of adjacent three strings. With standard tuning you have to learn a different one for each(most) set(s) of strings.
A basic example:
Power Chords:
F|-------12--7-14|
C|-----5-12--5-12|
G|---9-5-10------|
D|-3-9-3---------|
A|-3-8-----------|
E|-1-------------|
E|-------13--8-15|
B|-----6-13--6-13|
G|---9-5-10------|
D|-3-9-3---------|
A|-3-8-----------|
E|-1-------------|
See how the standard tuning one uses a different shape on the higher strings?
The disadvantages are that 6-string chords are a bitch(who cares?), and that tabs, sheets, some songs, and most of the patterns you know don't work anymore. So.... Pretty much not gonna happen, but interesting anyways.
