Confusion over jamming chords...
Ok I'm going to sort this problem Ive had once and for all! If someone here will help that is
I watched a video on you tube of some teacher playing the F melodic minor over a chord vamp. Now I would expect the chord to be the Fminor, but the chord is B7 - the IV chord of the key.
So does this change the the Fmelodic minor scale into a different scale because the root note is th B? Would this be the 4th mode of the Fmelodic minor scale?
Here is a link to the video in case I'm making no sense at all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVH3QVJys8o
The way I see it, if I played the natural minor scale starting and ending on A over an Aminor chord, this would be an Aeolian scale. If I played the same scale but changed the chord underneath it to a Dminor, then the scale would become a Dorian mode.
Can someone please help me get my head round this!!!
Thanks!
