I've never seen them live, don't know who wrote what, so I can't know for sure. I'd have to believe that these guys are probably right about Bill Steer.

Steer, never been a big Carcass fan, but Steer layed down some of the greatest riffs ever recorded on From Enslavement to Obliteration so he gets my vote.

Haven't heard Steer but I think Amott has a very melodic side which I really dig. I'd probably take melody over technique though, so 'better' is a bit ambiguous.

I don't like Amott just because he's a pompous ass, but he's definitely a great guitarist.

Bill steer is a damm great guitarist, and he was also a damm great vocalist to. And just noting to wat someone said b4, i thought the reason why ammot left carcass was because he said the music was getting to *melodic*???

If he left to form Arch Enemy, I don't see how that could hold water. Not to mention that melodic death metal wasn't even an established genre at that point.
