They're really starting to pump up their import quality these days, this is awesome, now they just need to discontinue all their platinums, bronze, and plat. pro's. I like their new natural finish spalted maple series neckthru's, fucking ace for the cash, it even makes the warlock(which I hate) look appealing:

http://www.themusicfarm.com/pics/xcwgsmmerge.jpg
Their new NT series is kickass value too, the should've put those Rockfield pickups in em though, assuming they're better than those BSDM's(anything's better really).
But I just don't like any of their shapes... the fuckin need to reissue the Ironbird and stop with the fuckin widow headstocks on their V's, then maybe I'd consider buying one.

oh and when they say imported from europe, what country do you presume it is?

Imported from Europe? Huh? Which series? I didn't read that, I thought they were all Asian made. I know some guitar manufacturers like Dean have foreign custom shops and lines of guitars made in the Czech republic. So maybe that or some other Eastern European country.
They don't make ANY Ironbirds as it is actually.

quoted from the bc rich website "The Warlock Calibre is meticulously handcrafted in Europe with very specific tolerances and specifications that closely mimic USA handcrafted features, quality and playability. The Warlock Calibre offers up a level of quality at a value that fits in between our amazing imported models and our original admired and treasured Custom Shop Handcrafted models......."
pretty intersting i thought.

The warbeast is a killer but never tried of those mafia and rockfield pickups. Still nothing can beat Pat O Brien's V guitar in my opinion.

they look really nice. but for the price that they go for in the UK, i would rather save up more and buy a custom ran.
im going to order my ran in september. i finally have the money. and when it comes, plenty of necrophagist covers for all

Have you seen the trans-black NT Jr. V? Looks just like Pat's, but it's a 6 string... 600$! :wow: It's the same one Erik Rutan has been playing live recently.

It's not an OFR. But it's still an awesome guitar, throw in an OFR for 150$ and some new pickups and you're set! It looks beautiful in the Hate Eternal DVD.

Soeru, it IS an OFR and if that guitar is only 600$ im fucking sold aswell. i just wonder how/when they will turn up in the uk
oh and also it doesnt come in trans black does it? says on the website onyx (just gloss black)
also the fact that its going for 600 usd and has the spec that it does gives me the feeling that they have done something in order to make this guitar very cheap to produce, and it may not be a good thing

Hey man, 600$ for a NT guitar with those features is pretty spot on still.
I got my neckthru 80's Charvel for 400$ with a Schaller though, far better build quality than a lot of the new MIJ neckthru Jackson MG's.

well, the warbeast tells me theyre running out of ideas, and bringing back the widow just reinforces that.
even with putting that "R" on all the models, im sure it will still be a mediocre brand, and youre better off to go with entry level jacksons or mid-high range ibanez's

it is NOT a low quality wood, its just cheap and easy to find which makes you think its low quality. True Mahogany (not honduras or farm grown) is endangered, so its fuckin pricey to get, and therefore people want it more, and therefore demand outweighs supply thus raising the price. Believe it or not, alder has tighter low end than mahogany, and sharper high end... imagine something that sounds heavy as shit without the mud. Its a damn sweet wood for with a clear and balanced EQ, ideal for jacksons. Thus, jacksons have way less mud than gibsons.
if you want 'low quality', look for...
Nato (eastern farm mahogany... sounds similar, but is still cheap as shit: doesnt warrant high prices),
chesswood (combination of cheap woods glued together, sounds like shit because of all the glue)
agathis (commercial grade 'mahogany', in otherwords pure shit being labeled to sound enticing)
and that list... http://www.guitarsatbmusic.com.au/e...ctmmaterial.jpg... isnt very accurate because ebony is the brightest wood on that list which they dont represent, and swamp ash/ash in general isnt that bright and DEFINATELY does not have as near as much low end than mahogany.

..as for this guitar, I had a bad experience with one. First off, the plastic trim that is situated in the string-holes (in the body) are just pressed in, and when I re-strung the guitar, three pulled out when the string was threaded through the body. My other string-through-body guitars have metal inserts, are seated tightly and do not move. Also, those inserts started to bend (as they are only a soft plastic) from the pressure of the string over top of them. Kind of hard to explain, but if you looked at the body from the side, you could see the inserts were almost bent to the point of being out of their holes. Second, the body split about an inch or so, just below the points of the widow 'headstock' in the neck pocket on the rear. Splitting also occurred around two of the string holes in the rear of the body. I should also mention that my 'studio' is climate/humidity controlled, as was the music store the guitar was purchased from. The guitar was never dropped or mishandled. It was tuned to B, so it was not an issue due to string tension either. I spoke with a BC Rich rep, who indicated that although this was not a common occurrence, it has happened several times. Possibly a design flaw? I found the neck to be very wide and uncomfortable, however this is obviously more of a preference issue. It didn't seem that bad at first, but after playing for a while, became an issue for me. The stock BDSM's seemed to sound more 'buzzy' than on their other models as well, but I imagine you'd want to pull them out anyhow. Needless to say I sold the guitar not long after aquiring it - I was also lucky enough to had gotten a partial refund from the store due to the damage that developed on the back of the body. The guitar looks great in my opinion, but was a bear to play, and again, in my opinion, was not well thought out.
Hope this helps

I've seen that too, but I've seen more pics of that guitar and the bridge DOES NOT have a "Floyd Rose" imprint like the real OFRs.
Btw, Marco, bassplayer from Thanatos and Melechesh which I talk with at another forum rented his rehearsal space to HE right before the Euro tours and watched them rehearse a bit, and Erik told him "I swapped the bridge and pickups on it", so it most definitely was not an OFR if he had to swap the bridge.

i think only the NEW NT's have ofrs... and old ones had licensed... either that... or the thanatos guys didnt like the ofrs...

hear about the guitar from someone else or play one before i buy, i wish they could be trusted, i mean if it was a jackson i would just order it straight away.
meh oh well.
Soeru, it could be that Mr. rutan played one of the old series, but i guess your probably right.

Nah it's the new 2006 series that came out last year, there are some BCR promo pics of Erik and a few other guitarists with it, and on the DVD showing off his gear he said he got it for free from em before the Euro tour.
It should be obvious too, black OFR's are very rare and cost 200$(chrome ones are 150$), so you'd be getting a neckthru ebony board, 3piece maple neck and NATO(not cheapo!) for 400$? No way.
You only find OFR's on guitars from big manufacturers in the 800$+ range. Even the 700-800$ Jacksons still have licensed floyds. Cheapest new guitars I know with OFR's stock are modern Charvels and 1000$+ MIJ Jacksons.

I think they should bring back the Ironbird and Stealth shape guitars. Give the people what they really want! And give the option on all the guitars either a Kahler or FLoyd trem. I know they have those lower case Kerry King V and Warlock with a Kahler but it be awsome to have the option. Oh and more 7 strings and colour options.

My carvin dc127 came with an original floyd rose - bought it in late 90s but sold it a few years ago.

Sub 500$ Kramers used to come with Original Floyd Roses too, but that was in the late 80's

Yeh! There was a rumor that they were gonna bring back the Ironbird last NAMM but it didn't happen, hopefully they'll catch on for the next one!

not sure if that body design is the same as previous guitars they make..but to me, its kinda ugly. the half of the body towards the neck is fine..but the way that arc comes in and meets that straight edge is terrible in my opinion. i'm sure its a good guitar..which is much more important than a small bit of the styling...just thought i'd throw in my two cents as a person that has taken many design courses. (not guitar design)

I have to admit I'm very impressed with the new line of BC Rich guitars. It's about bloody time they updated the overpriced shit they were selling. I mean take a look at the new Kerry King signature guitar. It now has active EMG's, a Kahler trem (okay so it's not a 2315's but hey, it's better than a licensed Floyd Rose), an ebony fretboard etc etc. I feel very sorry for people who paid £800 upwards for the old KK model.

i'm looking into their assasin series. forgot the modle, but the one with a floyd rose, and a neckthru neck. just trying to figure out what the extra strap button is at the bottom of the guitar.
either a bc. rich, or i'd be making a Jackson RR24 lookalike guitar with 2 pickups instead of the 1 that comes with the RR24 guitar...

now am i on crack, or did the just release a mockspecial with 24 frets? HUGE selling point for me because it opens up alot more neck pikcups to choose from 24 frets = less neck mud
between a schecter tempest and a mockspecial... mockspecial is taking the lead...

i'm afeared that the schecter construction will make the bcr feel like a hunk of plywood. Man, schecter makes VERY nice mid line stuff, and i have some doubts that bcr will be able to compete.

It's a wood from the same family as mahogany, it's like the Eastern counterpart. Lighter, not as much sustain, and has sound characteristics closer to that of Korina instead of dark sounding mahogany. It is NOT crap wood, definitely better than the pseudo-alder/cedro and agathis crap that comes on a lot of guitars in that price range.

true say.
Hey Soeru, do you know if this new line of BCR's can compete with schecter's construction? You seem to be the only authority on bcr's around here.
