I've never even heard the band's name before, but this is most definitely good death metal.

Pestilence fans would strongly disagree with that sentiment. If this band is anything like them, though, they're worth checking out.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but apparently Thanatos formed in 1984, according to Metal-Archives. It's a crime that I've never heard them in the past.

Aren't Pestilence from around 85 or 86? I didn't even know they were Dutch. :P

The Greeks invented Thanatos before anyone invented Dutch people. They win the precedence debate.
(On topic, this band is pretty good and you should have heard of them by now.)

I have known of them for quite a while, wasn't until recently that I decided to check them out(Marco posts at a forum I frequent and I get along with him, hence I decided to check it out). Previously I only knew of God Dethroned from the NL.
Btw, the guys who filmed that video are the guys from Vermin, another dutch death metal band.

I believe you told me once that Dutch bands don't get to tour very much outside of the country because tour organizers "shun Dutchies like the plague" because of some tax or something? How is that man? I mean tons of foreign bands both big and small play in Holland, why don't tour organizers wanna book Dutch bands like Thanatos, God Dethroned and Melechesh for world/Euro tours?

This is odd, considering Melechesh and Destroyer 666 actually opted to move there.

Yeah, Jesse Pintado from Napalm Death also moved to Holland when he went to revive Terrorizer.
But I'm talking about actual Dutch bands(ignore Melechesh, although some members are Dutch), they don't get to tour outside of their country very much cause they aren't getting booked because of something FBS once commented about.

ah man dutch bands go on tour all the time! Severe Torture and God Dethroned just toured with Vader, Disavowed is touring with Cannibal Corpse and Prostitute has been on tours with cannibal corpse and deicide.
its just that bands like asphyx, thanatos and pentacle are all in their fourties, have a family blablabla. Oh and old-school death metal bands don't do 'massive' touring because of the cult status you know

Good point Doctor. There are some very proficient bands in the Netherlands like the ones you mentioned. And who in the hell wants to be on a 6 month tour if they have kids? Well, Nile and Cannibal Corpse I guess, but when you already have a decent paying job, why throw that away and the many months you could spend with you family on something that barely gets you fed?
