There's really no quick way to increase pinky strength. Just practice alot and be sure to use your pinky. Try doing trills with it. If you dont know what I'm talking about do this: fret any note with your ring finger and rapidly hammer on and pull off with your pinky finger. Keep doing this and you should feel the burn soon enough. Also, you cound do some chromatic exercises (basically go up and down the fretboard fretting every note and dont forget to use your pinky).

There are a few bastards who just picks up the instrument and everything works for them. For the rest of us, it is "kinda slow".
I had the luck of being taught to do power chords with the pinky at an early stage, but I know one other thing that's very good to look out for. Typically, your pinky will stand straight up when the others are bending over the fretboard. Have faith, it is possible to train away without any unusal exercises, but it takes much concentration and stubborness.

heres a tip - use your pinky.
literally the only way to get better at something is to practice it. take a step up and play something a little more challenging and start using your pinky.

One thing i did to increase strength was to play without my index finger.
ex.
e----5-7-8--- (play on each string)
b-------------
g-------------
< 2 3 4 > fingering
Then work on stuff like this
e---8-5---5-----
b-------8---8-5- etc..
g---------------
<4 2 4 2 4 2> fingering
Then move to 3 notes per string scales patterns etc.
Feels ackward at first, but after a few sessions you notice the difference

Practice scales, exercises and even tunes that all involve the use of the pinky.
You have to start trying to use it to get it to develop a little mind of its own.

like everyone said..the answer to most questions here...it comes with practice. to build strength, just sit there doing trills while watching tv or a movie.

wow that does feel awkward. My pinky hasn't felt like that in a long time.

The Shocker... fucking right. It's only a step away from being as good as the Donkey Punch, and it's great for guitar dexterity.

Another thing to do when you don't have a guitar.
Hold your hand palm flat. Stick you thumb straight up over the base of your palm. Now without moving your thumb as much as you can, make each finger tip (including picky) touch your thumb as fast and hard as you can. Use different sequences.
You will be able to see what fingers are weaker and slower than others but at the same time strengthen your whole hand over time.
Keep at it when you don't have a guitar to play. Its a great exercise when you are stuck waiting somewhere.

Pretty good idea man. I've really wanted excercises like that and there aren't many that are apparent. The one I've always used is: grab the top of a table and do 1-3,2-4 back and forth. Pretty basic, but I haven't heard of many others.

Bend strings using your pinky and of course support it with you other fingers. Keep playing licks and bendings like that and u will realize that the burning sensantion will slowly dissapear. that means your pinky has aquired more dexterity. improvise in finding those pattern licks that gave you the most burning sensation and work it from there. not only you are going to be better in playing your guitar, your gf's are gonna love u lol

Not my ideal. I heard about it a very long time ago. Also using your picky for fast powerchord riffs when you have a guitar on hand will make the picky very strong.
I can kill 5 men with my picky if need be.

heh i've seen these sets of "rings" you could buy...basically weights for your fingers. they are for building up speed and strength. you could double up or wear the heavier one on your pinky and play with that. then after you have used it for a while, you can take it off and your pinky should be a bit faster.
