Guitar Padding

I was on Steve Vai's website and i have noticed that he stuffs the back panel of his guitar where you load the strings into, that he has padded it with what looks like tissue paper. I guess it keeps sustain and more clearity. i want to do this also but does it get hot with teh wires and could it set on fire?

If you're talking about stuffing up the inside of the trem cavity with cotton balls/tissue paper I think there's a highly unlikely chance anything will set on fire unless you're in Spinal Tap. I do this also to dampen the springs inside my Ibanez because the resonance from the body will sympathetically vibrate the springs, causing weird "ghost notes', especially on palm muted power chords.

Oh so that's what it's for! I used to get the same problem with my Charvel, I'll try this next time I get those ghost notes.
